I found a reference to testimony before Congress by an ATF agent that admitted that ten out of 240,000 legally owned machine guns have ever been used in any type of crime (including nonviolent offenses such as failing to notify ATF of address changes, etc.). Of course the one incident I can recall, the North Hollywood bank shootout, didn’t fall under the category of “legally owned”, but the gun grabbers never bother with facts.
Well, as much fun as the A1 version is, it’s really impractical to fire more than a few rounds in a burst. My entire years ammo budget could go down range very quickly. Sadly, I haven’t been able to have any fun for a while since the moron son of the owner of our private range caused it to be shut down. I’m still looking to buy some land cheap.
“This will cause her to finally leave office. This will cause her to finally leave office.”
Romanian-style, we can hope.
It is not for sake of accuracy that the three round burst and semi-auto only has been put into place. It was done to reduce ammo wasted in the 'pray and spray' mode of close quarter combat.
Trying to keep guns out of the hands of law abinding Americans to reduce crime is like stopping sober people from buying cars to reduce drunk driving.
The M-14 was never even marginally useful in the full auto position. It went through a mag quickly the hit probability after the second round was extremely low.
The three-round burst of the M-16A2 is remarkably accurate.
I once OIC’s a qualification range and an Army Specialist accidentally rotated his switch to burst. He put all three zero-ing rounds in the center of the target at 25 meters. that’s less than an inch grouping.
Not everybody can do that, but the M-16 is much more controllable.
The 1986 Law expressly forbid the manufacture or importation of new select fire weapons or parts for sale to the public. All that were here, are all that are left for sale, which is why the prices are so outrageous.
Pre-86 weapons can be converted and brought into the system, and those weapons in semi-auto form fetch prices from $3-10k, however, the resulting conversion requires registration and tax-stamp. 6-8 months of waiting AND the weapon is in a Class 3 dealers possession until that goes through.
She says the stockpiling is “a concern for law enforcement”.
No, probably not... more accurately, it is a “concern for TYRANNY enforcement.”
OK, everyone, don’t pile on too much!
The Constitution “gives” NO rights. The rights are given by the Creator, and recognized as inalienable and uninfringeable by the Constitution.
You missed the distinction.
The Constitution doesn’t GIVE the rights, it recognizes them and restricts the government from infringing on them.
That’s what most FReepers would jump on your post about.
THIS citizen doesn’t care what the goobermint fools want.
I WILL keep my firearms as long as I am breathing. Period.
If the goobermint fools want them, they’d better send a Mech Infantry or Air Assault company for them, as I have the average SWAT team seriously outgunned and out-armored.
“The Founding Fathers saw the possibility of the government getting out of hand and protect ourselves with guns. If this is not a right then what is it?”
The rights existed before the govt and the Constitution is a limitation on govt. It does not ‘give’ us those rights as they existed before the govt and came from God.
This has all been done before.
So, Then England and Australia are godless countries because they took away guns?
bttt
1.2 million Title 2 firearms on the registry...and that doesnt count what the feds, cops, and illegal ones.
FALSE.
Since 1934, there are four (4) known instances where legally owned title 2 firearms were used in the commission of a crime.
By cop, in 1984 in Metro Dade PD NARC who used a MAC 11 .380 to kill a police informant.
By a cop, in 1988 in St. Louis MO who used a suppressed .22 to kill squirrels, accidentally killed a kid playing in a back yard.
By a cop, in 1998 using an MP5 to kill his wife, his wifes lover, an internal affairs cop, and his supervisor in MI.
By a cop, in 2002, who used a short barrel shotgun to kill his wife and neighbor.
See a trend?
