WASHINGTON – House Democrats on Tuesday stopped a Republican plan to force a campaign finance inquiry that likely would have investigated several influential Democrats. It was the eighth time since late February that the Republican move was halted.

One of the biggest recipients has been the chairman of the defense appropriations subcommittee, Rep. John Murtha of Pennsylvania.

The vote was 215-182 to stop consideration of a GOP resolution to initiate a House ethics committee inquiry. It called for an investigation into campaign contributions to House lawmakers by recipients of pet project money and their lobbyists.

So, my question is why they dont band together and investigate them themselves? If Pelosi doesnt have the guts to look at the party she directs, then they should proceed with their own investigation.

Time to take it to them.

What’s the world coming to when you can’t investigate Democrats for corruption anymore?

why can”t the republicans refused to participate in anything until the dems agree to investigate. They should do everything they can to slow down congress.

I try to get my arms around this stuff, and I don't get it.
Is every human being in the USA alive just for money?

An investigation means someone goes snooping and finds or doesn't find stuff, right?
Am I to believe there's no one that wants to go snoopin' for the sheer fun and excitement of it?
No one feels a burning sense of patriotic right and wrong and desires to really make a difference?

Why does anyone need permission to bust someone?

NIKE ..... Just Do It.

I don't think they are working that hard to do it because they really don't want their own houses examined, either. That is why this has not been the subject of much public caterwalling. If they really cared, they would be shouting about it from the housetops. Republicans always try to hide when it really matters.

We need some conservatives in there that are not afraid to have their own finances examined.

there is a group who has asked for Murtha to step down until there is a full investigation. I can’t remember it right now. let me look for it. If you look at the past ethics investigation of this group they seem to be mostly republicans. But Murtha is too dirty for them it appears.

http://www.citizensforethics.org/node/39242

11 May 2009 // Washington, D.C. – Today, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) called on Rep. Murtha to step down from his position as chairman of the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee pending the outcome of a federal grand jury investigation into the lawmaker’s earmarking practices.
