Operating income at News Corp.'s cable networks, meanwhile, was up 30 percent, with revenue up 11 percent. And although it won't break out specific figures for individual networks, the company said its biggest gainer was the home of Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck.

"This past quarter, Fox News achieved its highest operating profit ever, nearly doubling its profits from the previous year's quarter," Murdoch, News Corp.'s chairman and chief executive, said in a conference call. "It's a stunning achievement for a 13-year-old network."

Equalization Of Opportunity Act NOW! /s

How funny would it be if FOX started their own newspaper, something like the “FOX World Daily”. It would be DESTROYING the NYT et al.

Fox is the only network that will even mention Obama in a bad light. Everyone else worships the ground The One walks on.

I think it’s pretty sweet how Glenn took his show from, what was it, Headling News? And ended up on Fox and became the third highest rated program in cable news. :D

FOX DOES have its own newspaper in NYT’s home market. It’s called “The New York Post.”

Adding Beck to the lineup was brilliant. I can't imagine CNN’s response after they realized what they did to their ratings after they fired him.

And lately, FOX’s coverage of the facts has been amazing. It seems like most cable/SATV watchers are tuning in to learn that there actually is 2 sides to every news story. The propaganda spoon-feedings from the MSM is having a positive effect after all.

CNN fired Beck? Did not know that. Party comes first, I guess.

Yes, but they should let him have his own Comedy Show on Saturday nights as well. They could call it "Beck After Dark". That Rat Pack character he does is brilliant as an alter ego and satirical comedy foil.

Nugent for the show's band. Huckabee's musical guests are already better than SNL's.

The actual headling is much more revealing of the writer's bias:

Cash cows don't walk in middle of road

He seems to be under the impressing that most newspapers, network, and cable news is middle of the road. As in unbiased.

Even if you grant that Fox leans to the right, it isn't nearly as far as the MSM believes. Simply because they start from an invalid point of refrenece. Not the middle, but far to the left (much farther to the left than Fox has ever been to the right), so from their perspective Fox is "far right". When in reality Fox is "slightly right".

I doubt if this writer would describe any of the other cable networks as "far left." And that is the reason newspapers like his are dying.

And I can’t STAND Greta Van Sustren’s voice. She and Susan Estrich must have attend the School of Schreeching.

More from the article:

“In April, Fox News grew its prime-time audience a staggering 63 percent over the same period a year ago in the key 25-to-54 demo,” Murdoch said. “Today it’s the No. 2 network in prime time among all basic-cable networks and is closing the gap with the longtime No. 1 network, USA.”

FNC averages 2.26 million total viewers, and USA Network averages 3.26 million, according to a recent report. But when there are so many options for news and entertainment, one only needs so many people to get ahead. It doesn’t have to be politics that is the lure. It just has to be something with a following. Neutrality is tough for people to rally around.”

He seems to think Fox news became the #2 cable network by appealing to a minority opinion (conservatives). What he leaves out is Fox’s viewership is now bigger than the other calbe news channels COMBINED.

Fox isn’t appealing to a minority group. The are appealing to the MAJORITY of people that watch cable news.

This guy doesn’t get it. People that are interested in news (cable, magazines, newspapers) tend to be conservative. Liberals don’t watch cable news, don’t read newspapers, and don’t read news magazines. You don’t have to be conservative to appeal to them, but you do have to be NOT LIBERAL.

That is my new found interest in talk radio and watching the big 3. Ya they have an OPINION, but they also show how all of the peons watching MSM are watching FABRICATED news.

I think any FReeper here would agree to listen to someone's opinions rather than fabrication by MSM.

I suppose with 0bama and friends dissing FoxNews so frequently, at least a few liberals became curious enough to tune in once in awhile.
