I agree with you that if he goes overboard a lot of Conservatives will go ballistic and make the next ellection about right-to-life and defense of marrige. The Democrats do want to do that of course. They want to make elections about the Ammendments issues like free speech and unlawful search and seizue and such. They’re still wrong there, but they can muddle things a bit more.

I believe that SCOTUS appointments were the main issue, and we made the simple case that Roe needed to be abolished, we would win.

[Democrats] want to make the elections about the Amendments issues like free speech and unlawful search and seizure and such.

Democrats who live in glass houses (support, e. g., the "Fairness Doctrine", tighter gun control, government clamping down on peaceful dissidents (including veterans) in the name of "homeland security," and abusive use of eminent domain and the IRS) shouldn't be throwing stones. The idea that the 'Rats are the party that defends and protects civil liberties is nothing but a myth, especially now when the Anointed One is in the WH.

Seems as if they are only interested in (newly created) civil liberties when it applies to women's reproduction, gays, and foreign combatants!
