At first blush, conservatives might have taken some hope from Obama's promise to look for "those on the outside" to be on the court:

Huh? Was there ANY conservative who took that to mean someone other than a wild eyed liberal? I assumed it meant someone outside the DC bubble, possibly even someone who isn't a sitting judge. I'm thinking an Ivory Tower liberal, like Cass Sunstein, he of the "Living Constitution".

Obama’s promise to look for “those on the outside” to be on the court actually means look for a judge that will trash the Constitution and Bill of Rights. A judge that will OK Obama’s statist socialist laws and regulations. A judge that will bend to the Congress and Administration so the third arm of our government, the courts, no longer serves as a balance of power instrument.
