Robert Redford focusing on environment (From December 2008)
MSNBC ^ | December 17, 2008

The story of the ancient pregnant turtle found in Utah and a quip by a FReeper about having to halt building and development in Utah now because of it reminded me of a group I came across on Facebook last night:

Stop Bush's Giveaway of America's Redrock Wilderness

That in turn led me to this Robert Redford interview with Andrea Mitchell/MSNBC:

Robert Redford Interview

I know all of this is a bit moot at this point since BO has had the leases cancelled, but I didn't see this video of Redford's interview posted on FR, and I thought some FReepers more knowledgeable than I would enjoy doing a critique of Mr. Redford. Of course, he blames all of this on that evil duo Bush/Cheney.

Like Mr. Redford, I enjoy the "unspoiledness" of so much of Utah. I do know to enjoy that "unspoiledness", I'm going to have to get there in some kind of vehicle that runs on something. Redford talks about riding on a horse through the Canyonlands area. I doubt he rode in on the horse all the way from his house in a different part of Utah! I wonder what fuel that car or plane he used ran on?

Unlike Robert Redford, I admit that I'm an amateur when it comes to such matters as energy and "striking a balance". Well I take that back. He's not an amateur. Let's give the man his due. He's a professional extremist, thinks he knows it all actor. I just found his hypocrisy about being "balanced" as he says so many times in this interview striking. This man doesn't want drilling anywhere. Not in Utah, not in Colorado, not offshore and I'm sure not in ANWR where some mosquitoes live. That's supposed to be a balanced view?
