CRYSTAL CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Survivalists, doctors, even the parents of Joshua Childers marvel at how the 3-year-old, barely clothed, survived for 52 hours alone in the untamed woods of Missouri's Mark Twain National Forest.

{Cut}

"I don't know how he did it," Childers said. "I don't know grown men that could do it. But all I can say is he's a tough little bugger."

The reporter on FOX yesterday was choking up as he was telling the story. He had me crying right along with him.

Neat. Keep in mind that a three year old will eat/drink things an adult might pale at. Truly, at that age what does not kill you makes you stronger.

It is good to see a happy ending to the story.

As a Eagle Scout and career military I advocated to my son and others they should be able to survive all they encounter with the skills and knowledge they obtain thru experiences, clear mindset and lessons learned.

This little guy was damn lucky .........:o)

He survived rain and ... mountain lions...

The MO Department of Conservation classifies the ML as extirpated in MO. No evidence of a stable breeding population, although a very occasional wandering individual turns up.

From the article:

"If that was an urban little kid who just got lost out there, that kid would probably be dead," he said. "This kid has, in a sense, been training for just this scenario."

Stripping down to a tee shirt and one shoe is a survival technique most citified kids don't know about.

Wow! That long for a little boy is incredible.

By the way: How do you 'tame' the woods of a forest?

I have no word---just a belief that those two dogs were sent by God and will be well cared for by Him.

Someone in the article commented that it was good he was a country boy. His Dad had him cutting wood and he was familiar with the woods. Someone else said an urban kid may not have made it. Even though he’s only 3, I would trust this little guy in a shtf situation long before I would some of the young urban professionals I know.

High humidity and 40 degree nights ......will kill the hardest of us lightly clothed and ......3 years of age or not. I think baby fat, kid had just ate, good weather and a deep pile of leaves may have played a principal part of this kids survival.

What you say as well......his Dad has him loving and playing in the woods.

I saw the last part of a telephone interview with the woman who owns them on Fox & Friends this morning. They had video of the dogs, one is 8 years old and named Bear and I think the other is about 6 months old. They were romping and playing. The owner said she feed them bacon and eggs as a reward.

I was just wondering if there was more information!
