Tom Ridge: an Arlen Specter Republican? The former governor of Pennsylvania has refused to say that he’d vote for Republican Pat Toomey over Dem Arlen Specter should the two meet in the PA US Senate race.

Ridge appeared on this afternoon’s Hardball. He began by announcing that he will not seek the GOP nomination for Senate. But at the end of the interview, when Chris Matthews asked about his preference between Toomey and Specter, Ridge played it coy.

Proof positive that he made the right choice to stay the hell out.

Didn’t Penn. briefly have a decent GOP governor? Who took office after Ridge left join Bush’s Cabinet? Hopefully he’ll consider a run.

Wouldn’t any seasoned politician with even an ounce of shame offer up the boilerplate, “I’m a Republican and so I will be supporting the Republican candidate, whoever it may be”?

I would have thought so, which makes Ridge’s response that much more stunning.

I don’t quite understand whats happening, but the frauds and empty suits keep exposing themselves one right after another.

This is a good thing. Keep note and don’t forget.

Good thing this RINO saw the writing on the wall and got out before causing damage to Toomey in the primary. The dims shouldn’t celebrate just yet, it is way, way too soon to call races.

Stunning? It’s exactly what one would expect. He’s a RINO, he does what RINOs do. They support left wing dem policies and owe their real allegiance to the demrats.

As I have said many times, the GOP has been coopted by the Demrat Party. Ridge is just a slightly less toxic example than Specter or Murtha. But he’s still toxic.

Tom Ridge is a good-for-nothin RINO who should be shunned by all decent conservatives.
Pennsylvania urgently needs Pat Toomey at this time.

And this is why he will not run for the GOP nomination in PA. He knows the conservatives are fighting mad and his milquetoast brand of moderate pablum is not edible.

Why would Ridge or any of the PA Republicrats not back Specter? Elsie Hillman released a letter shortly after Arlen's party switch saying she still supported him whether he is a Democrat or a Republican.
