Activity at N.Korean Test Sites Intensifies

North Korea has been speeding up construction of a new long-range missile test site in Tongchangri, North Pyongan Province. And vehicles and personnel are busily moving around in Kilju, North Hamgyong Province, where the North conducted an underground nuclear test in 2006, showing signs of preparations for another.

"The North has recently been speeding up construction at the test site in Tongchangri by deploying more equipment and personnel," a South Korean government official said Wednesday. "We expected the North would complete construction sometime late this year, but it now seems that it could be completed several months earlier."

Construction of the test site began eight years ago and was 80 percent complete last September.

South Korean military authorities believe the North could accelerate completion of the test site and test-launch a long-range ballistic missile from there. North Korea on April 29 threatened to conduct a second nuclear test and test an intercontinental ballistic missile, unless the UN Security Council lifts sanctions against it and "apologizes."

The test site in Tongchangri is believed to be capable of launching both ICBMs and satellite rockets, and is much larger and has more up-to-date facilities than the current similar test site in Musudanri, North Hamgyong Province.

N. Koreans are playing the script they drew up last year. Obviously, they believe this will force U.S. to cave.

Don’t worry, Hilaray is all over it. When we cave, she’ll tell us that’s part of the script.

And she will deal a killer blow when NK least expects it.

I remember this has been a standard talking point whenever Bush caved to NK, with the advice of Condi. Hitlery can use it, too, I guess.

"The test site in Tongchangri is believed to be capable of launching both ICBMs and satellite rockets."

The NKs are only interested in launching missiles with nuke warheads. They don't give a damn about satellites.
And they are stepping up the pace of their nuke program because they see that the American government is staffed with craven, simpering idiots from the Presidency, the various departments, on down to the Congress.

Well that’s just wonderful. Barry will no doubt send Chia Pet some Stimu-lie money and Chia will still test his nuke.

I’ve always wondered what life would be like for an average North Korean rocket scientist. Would it be more like the life of a successful drug kingpin or more like the live of a protagonist in a Solzhenitsyn novel?

They are well over the so called "Red Line" with W had drawn and instructed them firmly not to step over, at their own risk.

Not only did they step over it under Bush, they are going to step Waaay over it now with Obama in office.

Obama will do nothing.

He will jeopardize millions of Japanese and hundreds of thousands of others, including tens of thousands of Americans, in the northeast Asian region.

And North Korea KNOWS he will do nothing.

Hence they are going forward at the sites as predicted.

This to me is an impeachable offense, for the man swore to protect the US constitution which means against enemies foreign and domestic. We are under direct threat, and only an attack will wake us up at this point.

This only thing we can hope for is that his regime buckles due to internal crisis, which is likely. Zero will take the credit for it, though.

"threatened to conduct a second nuclear test and test an intercontinental ballistic missile"

How about testing both at once?

To keep up the shock value, N. Korea will definitely work on it.
