Palin Joining GOP Rebranding Group
Roll Call ^ | May 4, 2009 | Jackie Kucinich

Posted on 05/04/2009 10:27:57 PM PDT by Choose Ye This Day

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R), the 2008 vice presidential nominee, will join a new Republican policy group aimed at reshaping and promoting the party brand.

House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.)announced Palin’s decision to join the National Council for a New America on Monday night. The group launched late last week and held its first town hall-style forum on Saturday in Virginia.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), the 2008 presidential nominee, indicated during a conference call last week that his former running mate had been invited to join the policy panel. The group, which is made up of prominent Republican leaders, plans to hold town hall meetings across the country over the next few months.

Palin’s absence from the group had prompted questions about whether she was snubbing it or being left out.

Let's talk about the virtues of Sarah throwing in with the Romney Bush crowd.

Not much to say, except that she ought to stop listening to whichever adviser brought in the RINOvirus.

I suspect she knows what she’s doing...

Me too...

Hope she prayed about this...

I don't see how it could do anything for any of them. They won't be able to really discuss issues without looking divisive, and that will mean the public will get to hear a lot of anemic mush-middle talk about 'hope' and 'new solutions' and 'inclusiveness,' without speaking to the defining message.

Ha, Ha, Ha. I wonder if all the Sarah-is-the-right-wing-Messiah crowd will take back all the ugly things they said yesterday about this group.

I'm just wondering. Who are YOU supporting for POTUS in 2012? Who is the right conservative? We need names now so we can start planning the next race. Talk is cheap. Who do you suggest? We need a strong conservative candidate that can win nationally. Who?

Schlussel and farmer absolutely share the same hatred in the hearts, so it’s no wonder he quoted her.

When people criticize “Bible thumpers” I’m quite sure they have people like farmer in mind.

We don’t have anyone in 2012 yet. We have losers at the top because we breed insipid eunuchs at the bottom. We should take heart though. Obama may even make it easy for this sorry pack of losers to win.

I haven’t read the comments yet, but her statement was pretty vague. She stated she will work with this group “and others”.... she also stated “as long as they realize that Alaska comes first.”

Sounds to me like she won’t be participating in any pizza parlor meetings any time soon.

My theory is that we tend to elect conservative GOP candidates at the local level and when they get to Washington, they “go native.” This means they get real liberal real fast because the GOP leadership “explains” how the Village of Whores works. If they want to rise in power in Washington, they need to dance the dance. Then we lose them as conservatives. The problem is our GOP leaders sell out to keep power.

Wow- why did so many of you allow farmer18th to hijack this thread. Just move on already, and forget the dumb comments he’s made.

Yes, everyone, let’s forget the dumb comments I’ve made and let’s get on to the brilliant idea of Sarah, Mitt, and Jeb going on a listening tour. We can do some very deep thinkin’ on that score.

If she wants to return to national politics, not to mention run for President, she has to involve herself with the RNC and guys like Cantor and Steele. She can't pull it off on her own.

I disagree. Sarah as a third party CONSERVATIVE candidate would cause the GOP would come grovelling to her, or otherwise forfeit 2012... and perhaps 2010.

IF, she actually takes an active part in this group, she’ll suck all the oxygen out of everyone else’s sails. Or, perhaps, deliver a new breath of her own to said sails.

I've seen them begin their road to compromise on the local level. I remember a water board candidate responding to a pro-life question this way:

"On the water board--chuckle, chuckle, wink, wink--I won't make any abortion decisions."

I said to him "if you get elected to water board and you use that platform to move on to higher office, where your pro-life views will matter, shouldn't you be up-front now, before we invest in you?"

He coughed and stammered and admitted he didn't have any core values other than moving up the Republican chain.

Hey I got here when it was already well over 200 posts. I tried to ignore, but after reading all those posts that were off topic, I had had enough and voiced the opinion to take it elsewhere.

The only thing that can save this thread is to post a redux and try again.

Looks like she’s not interested in running for Pres. in ‘12 doesn’t it?! :-(

It’s not too difficult: if you get pregnant, and if it is even remotely possible, get married. If your daughter refuses to do that, or her low-life boyfriend stands in the way of the right course, some sort of public reproof might be in order. That’s all. If that represents an extraordinarily HIGH standard of behavior, then Conservatives have become the Hugh Heffner generation.

Why limit it to pregnancy? You let us know which sins of the candidate or the candidate's children are okay.

No wonder no one runs for office. I can only imagine how you felt about Cheney and his daughter. PLEASE do not FReepmail me...ever.

I’m willing to give her some room here. Let’s see what she does before we write her off.

You didn’t get the memo. We have moved beyond the extremely divisive and very arcane 10 COMMANDMENT issues, and we are now on to the “listening tour with Jeb” issue. We are talking about the important things now.
