Flu outbreak could have started in US: health official
AFP via Breitbart.com ^ | 5/2/09 | AFP

A US health official on Saturday did not rule out the possibility that the A(H1N1) influenza virus outbreak may have originated in California. "As we do our investigations here in the US, we may find that there were cases earlier," US Centers for Disease Control and Protection (CDC) spokesman Scott Bryan told AFP.

Several cases of infection were reported in California before the outbreak in Mexico, the epicenter of the swine flu outbreak, where the government has confirmed 427 cases of the disease as well as 16 deaths.

The number of confirmed US swine flu cases stands at 160 spread across 21 states, including one death.

The first case discovered in California was a 10-year-old boy in San Diego County, which borders Mexico, who became ill on March 30 -- before the outbreak in Mexico, The Wall Street Journal reported.

A throat swab taken from the boy was sent for analysis to the CDC, which received samples on April 13 and determined the cause to be the A(H1N1) virus.

In a second case, a nine-year-old girl from a nearby California county was treated for a cough and a high fever on March 28. On April 17, tests confirmed that the girl did indeed have the new virus strain, the Journal reported.

The children, who had not traveled to Mexico or come into contact with swine, have since recovered.

Bryan did not deny the specifics of the California cases, but noted that from December 2005 to January 2009, there were 12 atypical strains tested at the CDC that had the virus.

I have read plenty that some Mexicans are very angry about being associated with a pandemic. It is a racial and National insult. We should make them feel better and just say it is America’s fault.

Give me a break ... “we may find ...”

And it could have started on the moon too.

That he said it and AFP printed it is so typical.

When will AmeriKKKa end the senseless war on our Peaceful Neighbors to the South?

Why do you demean a man who ditched a stellar record by standing up for what’s right? Are you being sarcastic?

If not for Tom the hordes would be overrunning everything right now. Granted, the forces of evil wore him out and it only set them back a while. It’s up to US to shore up our inadequate defenses now that we don’t have Tancredo “to kick around anymore”.

Good news, you can as well tell her that she actually is lucky to have contracted it now, as she now has a very good immunity if the A swine H1N1 returns later this year after further mutations. It is very worrying that the vius has been transmitted from infected farm worker to swine in Alberta, Canada. When (if) it jumps back to humans it could be very dangerous.

Read your stuff. Never mind.

I AM ashamed that most Americans are purposely turning away from the Invasion problem, believing that they can’t do anything about it.

They won’t think about the Why: employers willing to undercut citizens’ cost of living for cheaper labor regardless of the law.

Damned shame the welfare system has been geared for illegals since the Clinton era. The people who need it most right now are too proud to apply without desperation while the illegals are schooled in how to take advantage of it.

What a shame no one thought to school them in the English language while they were at it.

Well I am 'hoping' to find out what exactly this means. What exactly are atypical strains? (Meaning who what when where and why questions.) And the who sent them to the CDC? And is December 2005 when the CDC first discovered 'the' virus?

Of course. It will give the ‘Bama something else to apologize for that he escapes blame for, but that demonstrates his contempt for America. I’ve been wondering how the ‘Bama and his minions in the MSM would turn this to their political advantage.

I remember a conversation I had with a moonbat when AIDS first became diagnosed in the 1980's.

The moonbat told me she had it on good authority that the virus was created by an American research scientist who then sexually assulted a monkey in Africa so it would spread to black people.

I looked at her straight faced and said there are only three ways she could be certain:

  1. The monkey talked.
  2. The scientist talked.
  3. They were caught in the act.

Now, I asked her, which one was it. Nobody had ever challenged her statement before that.

Let’s see, just about any fabricated source is plausible.

The swine flu last about 9 days, with the first 2 days not having any symptoms manifest, but the virus still being highly infectious and communicable between humans.

Now let’s say we develop a swine flu shot to give everybody to anticipate the onslaught. Then there comes a risk of Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS).

I spoke with a fellow whose wife had received some flu shots back in the early 80’s and then came down with GBS. The GBS had been attributed to the flu shot and her not having ever contracted the flu. Instead, the immune system went after her nervous system. It paralyzed even her eyelids, such that she couldn’t close them. Took them a year of therapy to retrain her how to roll over, crawl, and later walk again.

IMHO, the strain now exists and we’ll see it more and more. We will be fortunate, logistically, if it simply hits in a delayed fashion and not immediately with exponential growth throughout the population.

Horsecrap.

Index case in Mexico was a 4 year old boy, March 15th, from a town that had been complaining for years about the manure ponds around a joint Mexican-US swine op IN Mexico, period.

This story is AFP peddling an agenda, a US official possibly peddling an agenda, and nothing more.
