Shoot, why not just continue to DC - it's not like the plane's going down, and I can't imagine an extra hour or so in the air is going to kill anyone after a transatlantic flight.

Yes, she made it 8 hours, it seems like another hour wouldn't matter either way. Maybe her fever was very high or she was becoming incoherent. It costs a fortune to take off and land again. This is going to be hard on the airlines.
