Rice Defends Enhanced Interrogations
Washington Post ^ | 4/30/09 | Glenn Kessler

While Vice President Cheney has publicly defended the Bush administration's use of enhanced interrogation techniques such as waterboarding, other senior decision-makers at the time have remained silent. But former secretary of State and national security adviser Condoleezza Rice -- who declined to comment last week on the release of Justice Department memos authorizing the practice -- was caught on video tape this week giving a finger-wagging defense to a persistent Stanford University student.

The irony is this:

Pick the top terrorist targets in the US. Where are they? Solidy blue states and cities. So for all the liberal hand wringing about Bush’s “torture”, let’s be careful to see what happens the next time we are hit. And while we will all have a tendency to band together like the Americans we are, let’s keep track of all the liberal commentators, pundits and yes, the elected officials who make policy. Let’s see what they do or don’t do, now that they are in total control of all areas of government.

Agreed. She really took it took these ignorant students - with stern grace and aplomb.

Good for Condi. I was increasingly disappointed in her as time went on, but she got this right.

It is interesting to me that the Bush administration discussed and discussed and brought people into to discuss (are you reading this, Pelosi??!!) and kept memos on these deliberations. Apparently, the Bush administration was having some serious discussions of how to defeat an enemy that had enormously attacked the United States of America and had a built in philosophy that their own death was a worthy and noble part of the plan as well.

Perhaps, the real torture is that the terrorists were not killed thereby fullfilling their personal and religious mission?

Now, I am aware that some administrations stuff the memos down their trousers and run or just misplace them. The Bush admistration had briefs and imbedded reporters that had the opportunity to see what was going on.

Hmmm. Can’t even get a reporter to ask about who was on the terror-joy jet these days in the era of Hope, Change and Transparency!

Further more, George Bush was elected to a second term despite four years of relentless propagnada against him by the left, hollywood and the media, because he did what he was elected to do -protect United States of American citizens. And, Kerrystein ran one of the worst campaigns in history but I think even the left was repelled by his freak-a-tude.

I find it incredibly offensive that the Green-painted-toxic-waste-hauler that is Obama and his administration including Pelosi are the biggest, stupidest liars, obfuscators and obstructors of truth and openness.

Obama, there are still a huge number of United States of Americans that believe in our country. And, yeah, let’s NOT play games, Mr. Partyjet: let’s talk about YOU!

Way to snap them out of their fairytales, Rice! Thanks for being tough, woman.

Condi was always a strong, no-nonsense Sec of State.

But, of course, the media never let the public in on that fact.

Good for Condi.

I cannot believe how much abuse she took from people on this board who should have known better over the years. She never gave an inch.

Best,

Chris

Agreed. Some of her comments about foreign policy applied to many freepers. I think Sec. of State if probably the most difficult cabinet post to have.
