Reporting from Charlotte, N.C. -- Amid the chorus of criticism that has descended on Kenneth Lewis, Bank of America Corp.'s embattled chief executive was re-elected to the company's board of directors today, but his fate as chairman remained unclear.

Preliminary voting results from the company's annual meeting today showed that shareholders reelected Kenneth Lewis and 17 other directors who presided over the dramatic plunge in Bank of America's stock price during the financial crisis, according to a person familiar with the matter.

However, it wasn't known yet whether Lewis will retain his position as board chairman, according to a person familiar with the matter. The company said results of a vote to split the chairman and chief-executive duties would not be released until later today because of heavy voting at the meeting.

At the meeting, shareholders lined up before microphones to express their anger at Lewis.

How many shareholders? Apparently, the "rebellion" anticipated by media did not succeed.....

By all means....

Funny how radio news seemed so certain this a.m. that shareholders would oust Lewis.

He is the epitome symbol of Evil Rich Businessman.

Have you heard: Ollie Stone and Michael Douglas planning sequel to “Wall Street?”

Meanwhile, down in Florida, after a dinner-table meeting with himself, lump in the melting pot elected to move all his accounts out of BoA, and is in the process of refinancing his BoA mortgage, taking all of his business to a non-TARP-gobbling regional bank. I may not be Atlas, but this is me, shrugging...

That is exactly what the government threatened them with, to get them to buy some failed businesses. BOA is a rotten bank, but they should be able to make their own way in the market place.

Here in L.A., BofA caters almost exclusively to hispanic customers.... bilingual signage in the bank, etc.

I never did business with them, myself.

Oh no, MSNBC/CNBC/NBC, CNN, ABC, CBS and PBS will be very upset. I can’t even watch CNBC anymore, to me there is no difference between their irrational exuberance about supposed “good news” on the economy and MSNBC’s daily butt kissing of The One’s rear end.

You forgot Al Jazeera, Pravda, Boston Globe, NY Times, LA Times, Time, Newsweek, The New Yorker, BBC, etc etc.

Ken Lewis would make a far better President of the U.S. than the sorry excuse we have in the Oval Office now.
