Parental rights already being lost

Supporters of a plan to amend the U.S. Constitution to include parental rights are warning moms and dads across the United States they already are losing their rights to make decisions regarding their children's health, education, welfare, finances, sex education, access to abortion and even leisure time.

"The erosion is upon us," said Michael Farris, founder of the Home School Legal Defense Association, a college and a church and now a dedicated leader in the effort to change the U.S. Constitution through the amendment process to restore and protect parental rights.

Eighty years ago, the amendment website notes, "the Supreme Court declared that 'the child is not the mere creature of the State; those who nurture him and direct his destiny have the right, coupled with the high duty, to recognize and prepare him for additional obligations.'"

However, according to Farris, a survey last year of state and federal appellate court rulings found "the vast majority of the court decisions refused to acknowledge traditional parental rights are fundamental rights."

The problem, says Farris, is the growing reach of domestic and international government into decisions about health, education, discipline and other issues that for millennia have been made by parents. In one recent case in the South, the parents of a 13-year-old juvenile were refused access to his medical records because the doctor decided against including the parents in the discussion.

I would think the odds of Congress passing this are low; they need 3/4 of states anyway, are they working on this at the state level already?

You dont lose your parental rights you give them away!

How by not showing up at the Capital and calling your Representatives. Action speaks louder than words.

We should not fear anything if we bring our children up in the strength and admonition of the Lord. Respect and consistent truth.. Your children will not turn to the left.

The giving up of a child to the school system is an abdication of rights by definition. This is the implicit contract that parents make.

For most of the child’s waking hours, they will be surrounded by strangers who are neither their parents nor their siblings. Strangers who will teach the child THEIR values and worldview, using a textbook filled with its own propaganda, and following a curriculum scientifically designed to produce docile employees.

Children are told that they must obey their teachers, and that they must listen to them to get good grades. If they don’t do this, there will be a penalty both at school and at home. They also must adopt the values and judgments of their peers or face ostrization and perhaps even mental or physical punishment by bullies.

Removing a child from their loving home and putting them in this environment opens them up to be the perfect vessel to be filled with whatever the school system wants. They will no longer be their father’s child, they will be the state’s child.

Since the school system was invented in 1900, each year it has gotten more and more bold in fulfilling the purpose for which it was created in the first place: to mold children to be what the state wants them to be. The state and her servants in the school system will never have the same values as those of the child’s parents. The state’s goal is to create docile subjects. The public school employees want first and foremost a paycheck, after that they either want to raise other people’s children as they would THEIR own, or they simply recite from the government approved text and curriculum. The child’s peers have a goal as well. They wish to be Lord of the Flies.

It makes no sense to send a child to the school system. Keep them at home and homeschool them.
