An old story but told again on the day he became a complete whore. I hope Bambi campaigns with him in 2010. It could be one of the great, unintended carom shorts of the decade.

Specter was the subject of idol worship of a local Philly AM talk show host named Michael Smerconish.

Back in the early 2000s, Smerconish had a radio show that was supposedly in line with the Conservative right. He spoke of his support for GW Bush, the War on Terror, and some Conservative issues.

But something was definitely "off" about the dude. He was very strange. You could tell his staff thought so as well.

He had Specter on numerous times, and there was a worship/love affair going on between them. It was icky and embarrassing to listen to.

Today, Smerconish is a host on MSNBC. In 2007, Smerconish switched his act 180 degrees, and became an Obama worshiper.

It turns out that Smerconish didn't really have any real convictions about anything, he simply wanted to become nationally famous.
