My first wife used to spout that kids were born perfect and then we screw them up. I never bought into that. Kids left to their own devices are capable of just about anything.
I guess that’s why adults raise them, not the other way around. Go figure...

Phil Zimbardo who did the famous prison experiments with students . . . and had to stop the 2 week planned experiment after a number of days because of the cruelty . . . noted in one preface to his intro to psych text . . . my paraphrase . . . pretty close to his words . . .
“If the monsters are OUT THERE—it’s not a big problem. We can gang up on them. It’s a much bigger problem if the monster is within each of us.”
What was the difference . . . after a huge battery of psych tests and structured interviews . . . what was the difference between the officials and guards of the death camps in WWII and average German citizens? Or average citizens around the world?
