White House Deflects Questions on NYC Plane Incident
Susan Davis reports on the White House.
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs offered little clarity on this morning’s incident in New York City in which Air Force One—escorted by a military jet—flew over Manhattan this morning for a photo op, prompting evacuations and other concerns. The president was not on board.

New York City police said the flight was authorized by the Federal Aviation Authority. The Air Force is directing media inquiries to the White House.
But asked at the podium if “you guys feel you owe folks in New York City this morning an apology for this incident” Gibbs, in turn, pointed the reporter back to the FAA and Air Force for comment.
Pressed on the issue, Gibbs said he would contact the White House Military Office but offered no further details on the incident. “I have seen some news reports,

Some poor USAF two-striper running a buffer is blissfully unaware that by the end of the day this fiasco will be all HIS fault! At least that’s the way things used to work in the military and I assume nothing has changed since I retired in ‘93...during the early Clinton years, I might add. Didn’t take long to see which way the wind was blowing then and it’s worse now.
