Two states have legalized same-sex marriage in the past two weeks, but when it comes to public opinion, supporters of gay marriage are still a minority. That minority is on an upward trajectory though and Scott Barclay, political scientist at the State University of New York at Albany, explains why: newspapers.
In the last two weeks, two states have legalized same-sex marriage. First, the Iowa Supreme Court ruled that a law banning same-sex marriage was unconstitutional. Then Vermont became the first state to legalize same-sex marriage through its legislature.
When it comes to public opinion, supporters of gay marriage are still a minority, but they're a growing minority. A recent CBS poll showed that 33 percent of Americans support same-sex marriage today, up from 22 percent in 2004.
Scott Barclay, a political scientist at New York’s University at Albany, along with his colleagues, has been tracking that gradual shift in public opinion, going back to 1990, and found a major contributing factor for the growing public acceptance is newspapers.

Most liberal media outlets are very unwilling to admit to their own biases, but if a liberal college admits it; given that colleges have the same mindset as the media they have the capability to speak on their behalf.

Our local newspaper did a series of sypathetic full-page stories on gay marriage a few years ago when it was in the news. I called the paper to complain. The woman I talked to said that she had gotten many angry calls. I really felt betrayed by this newspaper since I had been reading it since I was a kid.
That’s just how it goes. Liberal media and liberal journalists support the gay agenda.
What we need to do is get the word out so that other conservatives who may still be reading newspapers start putting the paper down.
The same newspapers with tanking circulation figs and advertising rates?

We have to tell our kids like I have that homo should not be married, nor should they have access to kids.
You would think that we would be in the minority when we watch TV, or read papers.
This is where the GOP should stand out and say we are the party of normal families, traditional families.
We believe kids should have a mum and dad , we believe that marriage is about husband and wife
it is an election winner so come on GOP get with it and stop the likes of the RINO’s and their pro homo agenda
Don’t forget that when some are asked about this they go with the PC answer and then vote differently in the election
so that number for homos would be even lower
thus far we are 70% and I know many are not getting pissed off with homos even though before they never cared.

Interesting choice of personality. Since Hannity defended use of contraception with a passion on his program, I am surprised he hasn't endorsed gay "marriage" now.
Like on any issue, the left wing cannot influence people whose opinions are strongly held. What they do is influence poeple who don't have an opinion of their own. They do it by lending authority to leftwing ideology, and by framing the issue in a way that frames their agenda.
It was especially effective with gay "rights". Sexual license thrived when validated: people felt that by normalizing gay lifestyle instances of their own sexual impropriety get validated. Secondly, the gay agenda benefits a lot when it is framed as an issue of rights, and newspapers would not talk of it in any other way. We saw that in California: support for Proposition 8 was good so long as the proposition was formulated in terms of defense for the existing institution. When Gerry Brown changed the wording in terms of eliminating a right, the support dropped to near 50% and we came close to losing it.

Have you noticed that every newspaper article from out of your area comes through the Associated Press? Look at your local paper from now on and you will see the “AP” at the top of every article that comes from out of your local area. This is a news filter. The people in the AP office are no doubt the biggest liberals on the face of the earth. They will suppress news that would awaken people and they will pass on the politically correct view of the news.
Look at the television news and entertainment. They originate in two places - New York City and Los Angeles. Again, that is a filter through which we see most of our news and entertainment. Look at the magazines on the news stands. If you check in the front of the magazine, you will find that it is published in New York City. Most of what we see comes from a small clique of people in just two cities. This does not represent a cross-section of the American people.
As far as the homo agenda being presented as a matter of civil rights, I think that Perez Hilton guy has shot that down. He showed the country that gay activists are mean, nasty hypocrites who are against the most basic rights of American - the right of free speech. The gay lunatics have just shot themselves in the foot.
I watched some of the entertainment shows such as Entertainment Tonight etc. There are four of them on at the same time, so I couldn’t see everything that was on those programs, but a couple of them did the story about Miss California. They even showed Perez Hilton calling Miss California a b****. These shows reach many nonpolitical Americans who would not have heard about this any other way. I think this undoes some of the years of pro-gay propaganda that we have been seeing on tv.
We cannot avoid all exposures to liberal media, but we can learn to identify their deceit. They can lie all they want, but if we don’t believe them it won’t do them any good. : ^D

The one I heard of was a different, and stronger, epithet.
It was never a matter of rights. Everybody, gay or straight, has a right to marry a single person of the opposite sex, so long as he or she himself is unmarried, and doesn't have a right to marry in any other circumstance. Nevertheless, the media speaks of it in terms of right, and the public, by and large, swallows the lie. We may end up with supporters of traditional marriage deniad jobs or carted off to a Gulag, and the sheeple will still think that it's the gays whe are denied rights.
About traditional people being denied jobs; Perez Hilton made some comments that came very close to saying just that. I heard of a fire fighter here in Massachusetts that was fired because he signed a petition to put gay marriage on the ballot so that the people could decide whether they wanted gay marriage rather than having judges decide. Gays can be really hateful. They published the names and addresses of all the people who had signed this petition.
The purging of conservatives from positions where they can influence others mostly goes on under the radar; it is unusual that with the Miss USA this thing boiled into the public view.
This must certainly go in in journalism schools as well as teachers colleges. Whenever leftist get to a top position in an institution they start bringing their own kind on board and start discriminating against non-leftists. Whoever has the top positions control the tone of the institution.
In anything to do with education, government, journalism or social work, there is an unstated bias for pro-death and leftist views. Exceptions sneak through, but they learn to keep their mouth shut if they are pro-life and want to keep the job.
Keeping the mouth shut to protect the job....isn’t that what pro-life Democrats have to do if they want to stay in the good graces of the Democratic Party? I have noticed that several Democrat candidates in my state and others have switched to pro-abortion and pro-gay positions when they moved up the political ladder of success. The Dems only tolerate pro-life politicians who keep a low profile and are on the lower rungs of the Democrat Party.
Have you noticed how the “blue dog” Democrats don’t say anything about abortion and gays? They let Kennedy and Pelosi do all the talking because they come from liberal areas where it doesn’t cost them anything to be a way out liberal. The naive voters in the more conservative states think “Oh, our Democrats are not like the far out liberal Democrats from San Franacisco and New York.” Sometimes I wonder if Democrats still believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.
I grew up in the USSR: this system of systematic lying and under-the-table beliefs is very characteristic of what the left wing wants for America.
You of all people should know. They want to own people completely - body and soul.
If you look back more than twenty years you can see that the gays have been putting on a long term propaganda extravaganza. These are very smart people who share their expertise in many professions. There have to be some advertising and public relations people involved along with psychologists and sociologists because you can see the cleverness and cunning with which they present their message to the world. For instance, they always have “normal” looking people who seem sane and acceptable as their spokespeople when they are presenting their talking points. You will never see some wacko such as Perez Hilton when the gays are trying to make a good impression.
Another way they promote a good image of homosexuals is how they always use goody-goody language such as “tolerance”. The gays wrap themselves in these platitudes until people begin to believe that the average gay is so much nicer and kinder than the average most person.
At the begining of the gay propaganda campaign in the seventies and eighties, the official talking points were that gays were born that way, gays were not the same as pedophiles, gays did not act more like the opposite sex than normal people, gays were not freaky or flamboyant - that was just supposed to be a negative stereotype. Gays were portrayed as more normal than normal and no threat at all to public sanity. If someone had said back then that gays would one day demand the right to marry, the gay spokespeople would have denied that as just an outrageous anti-gay scare tactic.
Now after about thirty years of the gay agenda we have: AIDS, gay marriage, gay propaganda foisted on the youngest school children and the gay agenda is now officially called the GLBT movement which stands for gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender. That last one, transgender is really strange, it stands for people who want to cross-dress, mutilate their bodies and introduce hormones into their bodies to make them appear to be the opposite sex. Again if someone said back thirty years ago that the gay agenda would lead to this, the articulate, soft-spoken gay spokespeople would have said that it was just nonsense, after all gays did not want to change their sex, they just wanted to have relationships with people of their own sex.
Back thirty years ago, if someone said that one day dating services like EHarmony would be forced to put gays in their ads, the gay spokespeople and their liberal friends would have howled about right wing bigots making up these unfair scare stories.
We can see how much things changed when we look back. Up till now they have had it all their way for a couple of reasons. One is that back thirty years ago it would have been impossible for people to envision how radical the gay agenda really was and what they would do to society. The gays are experts at public relations, they knew how to assuage the fears and concerns of the public. They managed to control the media image of themselves so that the only images that most people got to see were the images that the gays wanted them to see. Of course, Hollywood was a big help to them by flooding the entertainment media with propaganda that flattered the gays.
But nobody is perfect, not even the ultra smooth, super clever gay propagandists. Sometimes, they just can't help themselves - like Perez Hilton looking like the hate filled lunatic that he is. And the California gay mobs acting like thugs, even threatening churches. This year, is the time when gay hatred really came out of the closet for all to see, not only the news hounds that follow current events but even the great numbers of people who watch entertainment programming. When Perez Hilton attacked Carrie Prejean, it was all over the media, including the entertainment shows such as Access Hollywood. I purposely watched those shows to see if they would mention the Miss California controversy and if they would show the ugly, nasty truth about Perez Hilton. As I switched back and forth through the channels, I found the story on two of the four entertainment news shows that were on. They may have been on the other two as well but I could not tell because several of the shows were on at the same time. Anyway the malice of the gay agenda has made it to prime time. The truth is not limited to the conservative media anymore. The Pandora's box was opened and out popped Perez Hilton, oozing hatred, calling a beauty contestant a bi#ch and a c##t. Of course the words were bleeped but everyone knew what he was saying. I would call that a public relations disaster for the gay agenda.
The clueless part of the American people now know that there really is a gay agenda and it is not something that they want in their future.
Just like most of us did in California last November.

the left , the media which are left and the homosexuals have been for years trying to denounce anyone who opposes them but I have found more and more folk now speaking out against them.
This is not about marriage but an agenda and a sick on at that too
