BREAKING NEWS... Kansas Gov. Kathleen Seblelius has won approval from a divided Senate panel to become secretary of Health and Human Services in the Obama administration ...
The head of the Family Research Council says he hopes the latest revelation about the "blood money" Health and Human Services secretary nominee Kathleen Sebelius received from Kansas abortionist George Tiller will cause senators like Sam Brownback and Pat Roberts to reconsider their support for her appointment.
Family Research Council (FRC) and other pro-life groups have obtained a copy of a 2002 letter [PDF] in which notorious late-term abortionist George Tiller claims that he donated more than $200,000 to ProKanDo, a political action committee dedicated to defeating Kathleen Sebelius' challenger in the 2002 Kansas gubernatorial race. (See earlier story)
Sebelius told senators Tuesday that her campaign and political action committee received almost $40,000 connected to Tiller -- not $12,450 as she originally reported.
Last month, Sebelius corrected three years of tax returns and paid more than $7,000 in back taxes after finding what she called "unintentional errors," such as claiming mortgage interest deductions on a home she and her husband no longer owned.
FRC president Tony Perkins says Sebelius has an "integrity issue."
"This is twice now that she has not been fully candid with the United States Senate on her financial dealings," he notes. "Not only did she not disclose money that she received directly from George Tiller, but she did not disclose the money that she received directly from his abortion clinic. She is a political candidate that has funded her political career with money derived from abortions -- blood money."
Perkins says in his mind it is "unconscionable" for any U.S. senator to support the nomination of someone with such "strong ties to the darkest side of the abortion industry." Both Brownback and Roberts from are from Sebelius's state.
She has no integrity. What’s this issue?
an "integrity issue."
Main qualification for being in 0bama's cabinet, along with failure to pay taxes.
The List, ping
Yeah, I guess you could say that advocating the dismemberment of babies could be an integrity issue - sort of - kinda.
What’s with the euphemisms? She’s an accessory to murder.
(Oh crap! Now I’ve done it. Back on the DHS Watch List.)
To clarify...she LIED to the senate about the Tiller money. She LIED to the IRS on her taxes.
I have been a longtime supporter of Brownback and Roberts...even voted for Dole....I have no idea why they are supporting this woman. She isn’t even a ‘fellow Kansan’, as she comes from Ohio.
