China's navy will develop a new generation of warships and aircraft to give it much longer-range capabilities, its commander-in-chief said in comments published Thursday.
Admiral Wu Shengli told the state-run China Daily newspaper the Chinese navy wanted to develop hardware such as large combat warships, stealth submarines with abilities to travel further and supersonic cruise aircraft.
More accurate long-range missiles, deep-sea torpedoes and a general upgrade of information technology were also in the pipeline, according to Wu.

This may not end well.
If any of you have an opportunity to pick up Saturday’s Wall St. Journal, please check the supplement out (it’s also available online if you subscribe to the WSJ). It discusses this same topic in addition to increased ground and air force expenditures. The Chinese military is called the People’s Liberation Army (PLA); however, the naval component is labeled the PLA Navy.
As an American of Chinese descent, this clearly does not bode well for Taiwan. I’m sure India, South Korea and Japan are concerned as well. The Phillipines can probably kiss the Spratley Islands good-bye, too.

Well China will make huge gains in the military area because they are flush with our cash due to stupid,dangerous trading policies...and we are broke. It does not really matter who is in office because we would have to borrow money from China to build our military right now...like that would happen. Thanks free traitors, the national security of our country was sold out for cheap trinkets...now let’s complete the cycle by driving our domestic autos out of business and China’s economic victory will be a done deal...their military victory...in the future I fear.
And who do you suppose China is going after with their upgraded navy?
