FWIW, I only object when animal behavior, especially primate behavior, is used to promote what amounts to a left-wing political agenda. I don't go to the Bible for answers to biological questions just as I don't go to science for answers to moral questions.

As a religious person, I find the similarities between apes and humans fascinating but hardly threatening to my humanity.

I agree wholeheartedly with it, we may disagree here on the origins of Humanity, but by saying that we evolved from animals gives us providence to act like animals is completely wrong.

We are the only critters on this planet than can actively change our environments, usually for the better, sometimes for the worse. We have brains that we use to create moral codes and social contracts that benefit the whole of our species. We protect our young and weak, something the other animals do, but they also let their old and weak get eaten by predators, we do not.

Even if we are evolved from animals, we are humans and even Nature demands that we act like Humans and not animals. Maybe nature was just sick and tired of the way animals acted and wanted to try something new. Weather we were created by god or Nature we are still Humans and because of our intelligence we must strive for a higher standard than animals.
