I called the Department of Homeland Security "citizen line" at 202-282-8000, seeking to verify if the document is legit. The operator was notably unhelpful. She wanted to divert me to the "comment" line. She claimed ignorance of the document when I gave her the title. I asked to be passed to her supervisor. I got a male. He was notably unhelpful. Also claimed ignorance. (Remember, this is the "citizen" phone line for a United States executive department, not the local gas station.)
Operator #1 also pointed be to email, web options. I refused to be diverted. Told her I wanted a telephone answer.
Operator #2 sent me to a dead line after I asked to go up the chain.
Called back. Operator #1 answered and told me she couldn't help me and that I had called several times. This was my first recall. I asked to be connected again to her supervisor, and she instead sent me to the comment line.
Called back second time. Operator #1 answered. I asked for supervisor and to not be sent to the comment line. She sent me to the answering maching of supervisor.

The Washington Times article highlighted on Drudge is down with an “Error 504.” I hope it’s just a server crash.
I want to know who wrote it and when it was initiated. Those “comment lines” and public information lines aren’t even in the same building as the DHS headquarters, the people who answer the phone are very low on the food chain, as are their supervisors. They don’t know anything and have no way to find anything out. If you want some more accurate but probably still misleading info, call the media office and purport to work for a newspaper or magazine. The JOB OF THE MEDIA AND REPORTERS is to ask questions such as you and I are asking. Everyone has been so busy being outraged that no one has bother to do a little basic reporting, such as, whose idea was this, did it come from the top down or the bottom up, who worked on it, how long, what resources did they use, or not use.
Eventually the Patriot Powers will be used against us.

The operator number isn’t answering, and the “comment” phone line says that the mailbox is full. I was going to report myself, as a California Republican planning to travel to Kansas to a family reunion, and check to see if I’m on a terrorist watch list for airplane travel. I’ll just have to take my chances, I guess.
This is merely an attempt to chill dissent at the tea parties tomorrow. Its a little too convenient that this report leaked one day before and so prominently mentions rightwingers as the enemy. The fact that Malkin got a hold of the report first also tells you something. They knew just who to send it to in order to make as many people as uncomfortable as possible about attending a rally. Little do they realize this likely increase rather than decrease turn out.
So now we know that the moonbat forums have access to Fed government docs and Homeland Security.
Okay, I finally got through to the DHS operator, told her I was a Republican planning to fly to a family reunion tomorrow, and wanted to ensure I wasn’t on their “right wing” watch list, and she promptly forwarded me to TSA, where I spoke to a very nice girl who was totally confused by my question, checked with her supervisor, and assured me that TSA is not targeting anyone because of political affiliation. I told her about the DHS report, and asked that my concerns be noted, and she agreed to do so. BWAHAHA!
