Obama was briefed on the crisis at least 18 times. But the crisis seems to have crystallized for the administration on Friday, not long after the White House got word that Capt. Phillips had tried to escape from his captors.

Senior NSC officials met in the White House situation room to draft a series of options to deliver to Obama. Later that night, Obama appears to have issued his first order authorizing the use of lethal force. The next morning, that authority to use lethal force was expanded and SEALs arrived on the Destroyer Bainbridge.

A military official speaking on condition of anonymity said the sniper team had multiple opportunities to shoot, but held off, not believing Phillips was in imminent danger.

Micromanagement.

I'm sure the Military knew he was in imminent danger but Obama is too stupid to realize that terrorist with guns will kill without warning. Obama wanted to negotiate out of the situation but terrorist can't be negotiated with.

From this information it appears that the SEALS only arrived on Saturday morning. Can someone explain why it took so long for them to get to the Bainbridge? And did the Bainbridge have its own shooters (Marines?) on board from the beginning?
