This is my post to the at wnty channel 13:

Our Military are fighting for us, we need to take a stand to make sure their votes are counted. Sadly it was decided not to mail the absentee ballets out early enough for them to be returned in proper time. Worse then that is the customary 45 to 60 day extension for military votes was cut to 5 days. This is wrong. There should be an investigation into why the DOJ only asked for 5 days!!!

GREAT idea! Also, if anyone knows of any other tv stations with posting boards in the 20th district, let us know.

I’ll check out the wnyt website again, and see if anyone responded.

I don’t like to call talk shows, but I left my comfort zone and called one today, to say that the military should be respected, and they need more time to get their votes back on time so they will be counted, etc..

Most counties in the 20th district mailed the absentee ballots overseas on March 13 by regular mail (except for Essex County which used express mail), but the Justice Department only allowed about 30 days for the absentee ballots to reach our military personnel and then returned to be counted. However, the Department of Defense recommends at least 45 days, and the Military Postal Service Agency recommends at least 60 days. Our soldiers in war zones, like Iraq and Afghanistan, particularly, need the full recommended time to get their ballots in on time.
