The latest Somali pirate crisis is turn ing into "Dog Day Afternoon" at sea.
But don't laugh. It's not funny.
The pirates, thwarted in an effort to hijack the US-flagged container ship Maersk Alabama off the coast of Somalia, remained in a commandeered lifeboat yesterday, with the destroyer USS Bainbridge on station nearby.

Reminds me of the GOOD OLE Days, of Jimmy Carter, and how we popped knuckles and paced floors to get people to stop taking over the Embassies, and taking hostages.
Does the description of Jimmy Carter Lite resonate with anyone. Americans taken hostage and our weak willed spineless president failing in his leadership role??
He wants us to be “loved” I think we are safer if we are feared!
I think that it's worth pointing out that the Somali pirates did not dare to touch an American ship while Bush was in office, because they feared him. Not so Obama.
The White House should do what they do about everything, i.e. deflect responsibility. Once again, have the President do the "Obama Whine" ("This is Bush's fault.")
The difference is the press in the 70’s wasn’t as in the bag for Jimma as they are for Hussein. No matter what happens the Pravda will be positive for the “O”.

This Somali situation was a great opportunity for Obama to show that he commands the respect and fear of the potential enemies of America.
The inaction and failure to take command with the kind of swift military action that the navy is capable of shows his failure and will just provoke crisis and crisis over his entire term of office.

Send the message that in one houd either the Captain goes free or the lifeboat will be sunk.If the capt dies you die and we wont be going to any trial we just machine gun you in the water.
Take it easy on the President. I have every confidence that he has already drafted a strongly worded letter to the Pirates and will mail it as soon as the State Department supplies him with an address. He's in the process of checking with the U.S. Treasury to see if they can afford the postage. All is well.
this POtuS should flatten the villages that represent the pirates bases. Young, old, and all inclusive. A couple rounds and the piracy issues will be over.

I suggest we take hostages by the thousands. Let them know we have them by continuously bombing their port cities where the pirates operate and threatening to bomb inland cities while demanding the return of the Captain. Worst case scenario, the Captain is martyred.
If we continue on the “Carter Latte” path, many more will be killed.
The key word here is 'was' as in past tense, since with the recent French action for their hostages, the 0' can only be either a follower of the French action if he acts, or can become what the French used to be by going to the UN.
Oh, and if he does go to the UN, he won't have ANY French help, and perhaps French opposition.

I seem to remember a song from my childhood, being a ballad of a sea battle between a bulldog and a pirate, the ending being,
