I had the same sickening thought. Fortunately I found this is the sixth U. S. Navy ship bearing the name of a British ship captured by the Americans during the War of 1812.
I hope there are plenty of snipers aboard.

No, the USS Boxer is not named after the senator from CA. The Boxer, LHD4, is the sixth ship to carry that ame. She is the sister ship of the USS Kearsarge that my son serves on.
