If they wanted their daughter to have a phone so bad, they should have gotten her one of those pay-as-you-go phones where you put on any amount from $10 to $90 with a card you buy at the store.
Even if the phone runs out of minutes, it can still be used to dial 911 in a emergency.

Thank you. It took 63 posts, but someone finally got the answer. If a teenager just has to have a phone, a Trakphone is self-limiting. If they run out of minutes, too bad. They can buy their own minutes.
