In the initial weeks after Gov. Blagojevich's arrest, one of the goofier theories making the rounds among his defenders (yes, he has some) was that the delay in bringing an indictment against him was an indication of weakness in the U.S. attorney's case.
The thinking seemed to be that if prosecutors had a real case against Blagojevich they have should been able to indict him right on the spot instead of using the device of a criminal complaint to effect his arrest while they tidied up their investigation.

Given some of the other evidence in this case, I wouldn't have figured Blagojevich to have had that much patience about receiving his reward. But it would help explain why there isn't more money leading directly to his own pocket, settling mostly for campaign donations.
Prosecutors also seem to have addressed that weakness with accusations that Rezko paid fees to Patti Blagojevich, the governor's wife, for work as a real estate broker -- they say she didn't do enough to justify the payments.
My, my, doesn't his look just like how the University of Chicago Hospitals upped Michelle's salary from $100,000+ to $300,000+ and gave her a near sinecure, Public Relations Vice President, just after the usurper was elected to the U.S. Senate and the Usurper got the U.C. Hospitals a $1,200,000 earmark almost immediately thereafter???
Give up Emmanuel in a plea deal? We can only hope.

The trick was to make the case so that none the big “o” didn’t need to be indicted.
