Gingrich: I would've disabled missile

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich told “Fox News Sunday” that he would have disabled the long-range missile before North Korea launched it, saying too many people “do not appreciate the scale of the threat that is evolving on the planet.”

“One morning, just like 9/11, there’s going to be a disaster,” Gingrich said. “I have yet to see the United Nations do anything effective with either Iran or North Korea.”

Reacting to President Barack Obama’s speech in Prague, Gingrich called the plan for a Global Summit on Nuclear Security a “wonderful fantasy idea,” saying Russia and other nations can’t be trusted.

“What are they going to promise, and why would we believe them?” Gingrich said. “It’s very dangerous to have a fantasy foreign policy, and it can get you in enormous trouble.”

Host Chris Wallace asked Gingrich: “So you’re saying that President Gingrich would have taken out that” missile?

Gingrich replied: “There are three or four techniques that could have been used, from unconventional forces to standoff capabilities, to say: ‘We’re not going to tolerate a North Korean missile launch, period.’ I mean, the world’s either got to decide that North Korea is utterly dangerous … I’d recommend, look at electromagnetic pulse, which changes every … equation about how risky these weapons are.”

South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, appearing with Gingrich, said: “In the countryside of South Carolina, at some point, you’ve got to back up words with action. … There have been a long series of … intentional steps on North Korea’s part, and little in the way of actions from the standpoint of either America or the international community.”

Newt’s running in ‘12, there’s little doubt.

I don’t know whether Newt’s running, but I do know he’s right about the U.N.

Ever since he agreed with Sen Lurch and appeared with Nancy Pelosi saying we must get on board the Global warming train to no where, I don’t think he will stand a chance as a Republican.

I still want to see him in there. He has a lot to offer, even if he can’t win the nomination or the general election. He is a very smart man despite his negatives. Personally I would be quite happy to see him as President, but that’s just IMHO. I know a lot of people are against him and I understand why.

He would certainly bring some life to the campaign!

Go Newt, let’s see what you can stir up!

Don't forget he also traveled with Hillary to promote some kind of health care travesty.

So after being out of favor for a while, he plots his entry to return, using Hillary, Pelosi, Lurch, etc. Just to get good press.

Now he is pivoting, again?

Forget Newt....I don't trust him, no more of this wooing of the enemy media.

We need to overthrow the MSM, not give them power and creds.

Neither did I, although I don’t go out of my way to listen to Mr. Global Warming Gingrich.

Well, WHY didn’t you, Newt?

“...I would have disabled the missle...” If what?? If you could fly like Superman? If you were President? If you had your toolbox with you last time you were in N. Korea?

What’s this supposed to mean other than, ‘Hey conservatives! I’d be TOUGH if it were ME in the White House, so get ready for 2012!’

too many people "do not appreciate the scale of the threat that is evolving on the planet."

Too many people don't see a threat unless they're told it exists. They either doubt their own eyes or their own sanity; or they're afraid of being labeled reactionary radical tin-foil hat conspiracy fear-mongering nuts; or they look at past events through the "lens of history" and are simply in shock and denial that those events are happening again.

The world having lost the stabilizing effect of a hyper-power, and that hyper-power having lost the stabilizing effect of a sane government, anything can happen. Anything.

I don’t know whether Newt’s running, but I do know he’s right about the U.N.

And our greatest fear is from the psycho a@@hats like Iran or North Korea. They look at us as weak and easy to hit. Next 9/11 will be a nuked city in the US. King Obama doesn't have the courage to announce to North Korea and Iran that the next display of a long range missile will be shot down. AND DO IT.
