FORT WORTH, Texas -- NASCAR is trading the Christmas lights of New York for the neon of Las Vegas.
The Sprint Cup postseason awards banquet, a fixture in Manhattan since in 1981, will be moved to Las Vegas for this season, sources have confirmed to NASCAR.COM. I’m glad they did. Moving everything to N.O. and Detroit is a little old. Vegas being denounced by The One is over the top.
You dance with who brung ya :) I do not think of NASCAR and NYC as having a great deal in common. NYC is not their base. They should change the venue every year. Have it in Charlotte, Daytona, Atlanta, Dallas, Richmond, etc.
Yes. No state income tax on any earnings during their stay.
It also has something to do with the Convention and Visitors Authority paying $1M a year for 3 years to NASCAR.
The Convention and Visitors Authority is not state taxpayer funded. It is funded by a room tax 99% paid by tourists.
yitbos
I wonder if the track got shot down by the city fathers?
Now I can go....
NYC ... holiday season ... Nascar? WTF?
It’ll be much better in Vegas.
