Texas Secession - Washington continues to ignore the 10th amendment. Until Texas independence, Washington's mandates on transportation, education, housing, health care and family issues will continue. Texas GOP Platform page 8 and 20:"We support state sovereignty reserved under the Tenth Amendment and oppose mandates beyond the scope of federal authority. We support downsizing of the federal government in order to re-establish states rights."
Economy - Washington requires Texans to pay for their corporate welfare bailout schemes. The debt is equal to $175,000 per person. For every dollar sent to Washington from Texans, we get back 94%; while New Mexico gets back 203%. Texas GOP Platform page 23:"Corporate Welfare/Business Subsidies We oppose all corporate welfare that supports continued inefficient businesses. We encourage our government to allow a free market economy to prevail both domestically and internationally."
National Security, Immigration and Trade Agreements are inseparably linked - Washington refuses to protect Texas from illegal foreign invaders. Many Texans are upset about NAFTA, WTO, SPP and other international agreements that Washington has gotten us into. North American Union is coming unless we act. Texas GOP Platform page 23:"We strongly oppose and call on Federal and State officials to place high priority on the withdrawal of the United States from the Security and Prosperity Partnership and the formation of the North American Union."
Education - Washington & Austin usurps the authority of local school districts. While spending $75B to control local education. Texas GOP Platform page 8 and 16: "We call for abolition of the U. S. Department of Education and prohibition of transfer of any of its functions to any other agency. Abolish the School Property tax. District superintendents and their employees should be made solely accountable to their locally elected boards."
Health and Human Services - The $53B spending by this Texas government agency drives up health care cost for the rest of us. Texas GOP Platform page 8 and 15: "Reduce the indigent healthcare burden for counties and local government. Free market principles and competition shall be encouraged in health care."
Abortion - Washington usurped Texas sovereignty in the Roe v. Wade decision. Texas GOP Platform page 8: "Life begins at the moment of fertilization and ends at the point of natural death."
War on Poverty - Since 1965 the U.S. government has spent more than $11 trillion fighting poverty without success. Texas GOP Platform page 15: "Welfare Reform - The current system encourages dependency on government and robs individuals and generations of healthy motivation and self respect."
War on Drugs and Alcohol - Law Enforcement Against Prohibition: "The War on Drugs has cost taxpayers over a trillion dollars, we are approaching 40 million arrests for nonviolent drug offenses." County governments in Texas should determine the drug and alcohol policy not Washington. Texas GOP Platform page 8: "We understand most crime is local, and the states, reserve law enforcement authority under the Tenth Amendment."
Texas Military Forces - Texas Military Forces have be conscripted by Washington to fight undeclared wars. Texans need these volunteers in Texas to protect Texas.Texas GOP Platform page 8 and 15: "We charge the President to cancel the state of national emergency and charge Congress to repeal the War Powers Act and end our declared state of emergency. Never deploying the military except against invasion or threat to our vital interests."
Trans Texas Corridor - Rick Perry continues to support the TTC thus ignoring the people of Texas. Criticisms include the high cost, environmental damage and property confiscation. Texas GOP Platform page 23: "We emphatically oppose the Trans-Texas Corridor in any form or manner. We call for full investigation of any public officials authorizing any form of eminent domain for the Trans-Texas Corridor and foreign funding."
DFW Freeper ping
If Texas ever divides into five states, as it can under the terms of statehood, I would opt for the state of North Texas, the most conservative part of the state.
Please put me on the ping list.....
another yankee with a U-haul and proud to be living in TX
We must stop using the term "War on Poverty". Instead we sill use the term, "Subsidization of Indigent Americans"......................
Unless someone can stop the messiah somehow, I will move to the first state that secedes.
essentially a third party candidate? it seems these days the democrats stay united and the republicans are easily split with a few throw away candidates.
secession will be the only salvation for liberty
I’m with you - moving to the first state that secedes.
What if it’s California? LOL
“forced underwriting of poor choices”
I know he is a regular on the ballot, running for a major position (Senate or governor) almost every election cycle. I can’t get to his website here (blocked as Militant & Extremism), however, I recall he is pretty much a Chuck Baldwin type, thinks the War in Iraq was illegal and ‘created’ to enrich folks that pulled the president’s strings (the usual charge..)
If it’s a ideologically questionable state,
then I’d “wait and see” what form of gov’t they start with.
Me, I’m in favor of
the Constitution and the Bill of Rights,
erasure of all federal laws (start over),
and a lifetime ban on anyone who has already served in the Federal Government.
The Weather Underground thanks you for your compliance with their plans. Divide the usa up.
He got 226,000 (18%) of the votes in the 08 Republican Senate primary against Cornyn. Maybe we should try to get him to speak at one of our Tea Parties.
The only way that would happen is to form Aztlan or “reunify” with Mexico. CA is completely dependent on money from DC now and their Statehouse knows it — a vote to secede would be a non-starter in Suckramento.
I met him briefly at the Ft Worth Tea Party. He was passing out Texas flags. Seemed like a sincere, nice guy. Not sure he’s the guy to lead a secession movement though.
we were barely the US under Bush.
we are more leftist than Russia, under the messiah and I don’t recognise America anymore, at least in the population centers.
either move to a secessionist state, or fight a war....or do both, and that has been done before.
right now I have my ear to the ground and will play it as it comes.....
the Weather Underground be damned. we have more guns than them.
I went to his facebook page and found this information about secession that wasn’t on his webpage:
What steps will Texas take to become an independent nation? Conduct a referendum similar to the Puerto Rico Democracy Act of 2007. The Texas Legislature will direct the Texas Elections Commission to conduct a plebiscite in Texas on the question of its status and relationship with the United States. Requiring the ballot to provide for voters to choose: (1) independence; or (2) to continue the present status and relationship. Afterwards Texas will send a “Request for Texas Independence” to Washington. The United States will agree and send ambassadors to Texas helping to facilitate a peaceful separation between our two nations. There is no need to fight.
How do the vast resources of Texas compare that of other independent nations? Texas has 23,507,783 people; 11% larger than Australia. 79% of the nations have populations smaller than Texas. Our GDP is $1,065,891,000,000; 32% larger than Australia. 93% of the nations have a GDP smaller than Texas. Texas annual oil production is 393,000,000 barrels; 90% of the nations produce less oil than Texas. Texas annual gas production is 5613039 MMcf; 93% of the nations produce less gas than Texas.
Will Texas manage and collect revenues on oil in the 14 Million acres of the Western Gulf of Mexico? Yes. Texas will abide by the current Delimitation Treaty with Mexico and negotiate a treaty with the U.S.
Will other states be able to protect themselves without the massive military strength of Texas? Yes, Texas does provide the largest contingent of troops for the U.S. war machine. However Texas and the other seceding states can negotiate a peaceful transition of personnel and equipment so that all can be protected. Just as the U.S.S.R. did in 1989 when their republics seceded.
Does the U.S. allow dual citizenship? Yes.
Can I be Texas resident without Texas citizenship? If you prefer Texas residency instead of Texas citizenship that is ok. The Texas legislature will design a “lawful permanent residence” procedure. Please see: Benefits & services for U.S. citizens residing in Texas.
What about my Social Security check? You can continue to receive your SSA payments while living outside the U.S.
What about my military retirement Check? You can continue to receive your military retirement payments while living outside the U.S.
Will people be free of the 35% income tax, and the 15.3% Social Security tax, while working in Texas? Yes!!! Texans don’t like socialism.
Questions that will need to be addressed in the Texas Constitution, Texas Statutes, or local statutes: How will someone become a Texas Citizen? - Will Texas sanction dual citizenship? - Will Texas fix the broken borders? - Will Texas government, local governments, or the free market pay for education, health and human service, etc.? - Will Texas print its own currency?
La Raza is just waiting.
What does this guy do for a day to day living other than promote secession, run for political office and take donations from the public? Do you know? He lives in Mansfield Texas which is on US Hwy 287 south of Fort Worth/Dallas. He doesn’t give much info about his personal life, education, jobs, etc.
