ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - After a frenzied, bruising special election, a New York congressional race that became linked to President Barack Obama's economic recovery efforts won't be decided for at least two more weeks. Democrat Scott Murphy led Republican Jim Tedisco by a scant 65 votes out of more than 154,000 cast Tuesday.
After the count of machine votes in 610 voting precincts spread over the mostly rural, 10-county district, the unofficial count was 77,344 for Murphy to 77,279 for Tedisco. That puts the focus on the more than 10,000 absentee ballots mailed to voters who are registered in the district but were unable to vote in person on Tuesday.

Hm, perhaps the better-off snowbirds voting absentee will save it from the welfare classes...
here comes the trunk full of forgotten ballots if Tedisco wins. This is a highly republican district in Upstate NY. I’m concerned about Murphy has even a 65 vote margin. Can you spell ACORN
Have they counted ACORN’s ballots yet?
Some flagburning bedwetting leftist I've debated often told me that this district is 70% Republican...is this true? If so, it just goes to show you that not all Republicans are conservative or a bunch of New Yorkers have moved in like the Borg and are now trying to destroy this district after destroying NYC.
If this district is so Republican, why did it go to BO and why did a democrat (Gildebrand ?) win it two times ?
I’m assuming that Al Fanken’s “lawyers” have been called about how to find ‘forgotten’ ballots in car trunks...
Part of it is Gillibrand was pro-NRA (conveniently forgotten when she became Senator). Also, John Sweeney was brought up on charges, no doubt by Dems to get him out of power.
I think the phenomenon of the Republican districts is students who historically don’t vote are now voting. It’s the only explanation short of cheating..but in a Republican District, that’s a difficult accusation to make.
There were a lot of Republican leaning districts that went for Obama (who carried other Democrats with him) last election. They were Republicans who were angry with Bush for any number of reasons and voted Democrat in protest. I’ll bet there are many of them who regret that vote now that they see what Obama really stands for.
Sad. I’ll hope for the best...but the Dems are even more effective in post-election cheating than they are during the main event.
Apparently not enough for Murphy to have the lead in this district.
Seems like the RNC is confident they will have the edge on absentees. However this reminds me of Coleman and Franken. Too many Dems at high levels.
My suggestion: count the absentee ballots. Seat whoever wins, even if they won by a vote. It’s a statistical tie and further counting won’t change that.
The only exception would be if there were allegations of widespread fraud.
Sorta like Ted Stevens whose charges are now dropped after a RAT took over his Senate seat.
If they really regretted voting for Obama then the Republican should’ve won clearly. Although Gillibrand won by 6 points in 2006. Any chance a lot of those registered Republicans are actually Democrats trying to have a say in who our candidates are?
It's probably closer to 60-40 give or take a few either way. In November this district went for Gillibrand (D) with like 62% of the vote. With the Dems only up by about 65 votes now, at least the GOP has come back in this district. There are about 5,000 absentee ballots yet to be counted. I saw a stat referenced here on FR earlier that said there were about 1,500 more absentee ballots sent to GOP then Dems; if true, that bodes well for the good guys.
This is NY. A lot of NY GOP are nothing but RINOS and dislike Conservatives as much as the libtards do.
Track record of the Republican Party in disputed elections is simply pathetic. Look for the toadies and wimps from the county organization to fold their tents and steal quietly away from the country club bar ... back to Dad’s Law Office, Grampa’s Car Dealership, Mom’s Store, Unk’s Real Estate Company, Cousin Jack’s Construction Company ... as quietly as a herd of RINOs can move, anyway.
