This was back when the dolt Donahue would still allow guests to say a few un-interupted sentences, the left has since resorted to shouting down this kind of plain ideological wisdom.

Bumping for later when my machine might load the video.

I will never forget one of Friedmans remarkable statements on NAFTA to Dick Army. He said Nafta, and trade deals like it are NOT FREE TRADE, they are managed trade. Yes, they’ve ‘managed’ to create more problems than they solved.

Wow. Friedman knocks it out of the park. I haven’t heard such a clear, succinct, and I dare say humble slapdown in a long time.

Just wow.

There is are more brilliant economic, historical, political and philosophical insights in that 2:32 clip than 0bama ever had in his entire life.

It started with Donahue moaning about the greed and riches of Capitalists as compared to the poverty and suffering of other countries. Friedman pointed out that if you look at countries who have pulled the poor out of poverty you will find they are Free Enterprise based countries. Those who are still impoverished are not.

The main point was Donahue accusing Capitalists of being greedy and manipulative. Friedman asked him if thought the leaders in Russia and China are not greedy. Silence. He even asked if he thought the President of the USA was not greedy. More silence. He used that to say that we are all pursuing our selfish interests and that Free Enterprise is the best system so far that allows a society to flourish by pursuing individual self interest. It was certainly superior to some government bureau deciding what is best for the individual.

He cited Einstein as a citizen of a Free Enterprise country and Henry Ford revolutionizing the auto industry as a citizen of a Free Enterprise country.

Before we start attacking phil, lets recognize that he is a respectable gentleman, fair and honest.

Show me one left leaning talk show today that would allow milt to speak his piece like phil did in the vid.

C-SPAN replayed their “Booknotes” with Friedman last weekend and he is so brilliant I was almost in tears. His lecture on “The Pencil” is worth a million dollars.

This was forty years ago and Donahue is even more stupid now than he was back then. Forty more years from now and nobody will even remember who Phil Donahue was but Friedman will be known forever.

He learned exactly 0, zilch, nada from the man. He is every bit the idiot he was before.

Watch this http://iwilldefendtheconstitution.com/node/773 and tell me that he will ever learn from anyone.

But......

It won't change people like Donahue. These folks live in a parallel universe based on some Utopian “paradigm.”

Socialism is rooted in theory, feel good ideas, the abstract, some distant and disconnected ideas of how a Utopian society should be organized. The people advocating this value system use class/race/sex warfare and fear as their selling point. It was that way in the great Depression, in Cuba, Russia, and even Obama today is applying this. The environment now has been added to this list. It's a wholly unnatural, inhumane, and economically dysfunctional concept, no matter how appealing it is at face value. Like many other ideas, it sounds good, but when looked at closely makes no sense because it defies human nature and the most basic concepts of economics. It's not a trick question to ask what socialist economy thrived and lasted, and the answer is none. Even here in the US where we also have these types of programs you see massive corruption, abuse, fraud, waste, a lack of innovation, malaise, and poor customer service in those places where we have such programs (i.e. The VA medical system, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security.........). Like heroin, it feels good, is addictive, and destroys everything it touches.

**** The forces behind an economy and human nature are ALWAYS present, socialism and those advocating it simply choose to ignore this.

Milton Freedman was making that point and I assure you, Donahue didn't accept it. Because like a religion, Socialism is rooted in a “belief.” In fact, socialism can best be described as a “Ersatzreligion” because essentially it has a lot in common with religion. Where socialism thrives, God dies. And again, as Obama pushes his socialist agenda and massive governmental expansion, who will suffer and see long term dwindling funds? Charities and churches as tax write offs for these are cut. Donahue won't accept it, even if the arguments all make sense, even if in reality he can't make a case for his ideas because deep down inside, like near all other good socialists, he has "faith" in socialism.

I'm sure it does.

I have not had time to look at it yet.

I think it is important for the dissemination of information for some important points made in videos that are linked in threads to be posted in the comments areas of the thread.

As you can see, some people can't load the video plus a lot of people like to see information in print.

Thanks for replying to my comment.
