How will Israel survive Obama's naïveté on Iran?
The American Thinker Blog ^ | March 22, 2009 | Mladen Andrijasevic

As an American citizen I did everything I could to stop this from happening. I voted for McCain. But now in Israel as I watch as Obama appeases the Iranians I wonder if we in Israel will be able to survive.

Obama apparently believes that appeasing totalitarian regimes works. His Nowruz address will become the classic example of such an attempt. But the history of appeasement is not very encouraging. It has not worked with the Nazis, it has not worked with Arafat's regime, and least of all has it worked with the jihadists. For those in Europe who have for years believed that their appeasement has brought them less terror and cheap oil can only look around and see what Europe has become with the recent protests in Luton and Malmo.

Is it not better to have some dialogue with Iran? Are there no benefits at all? John Bolton thinks not.

The US would survive the collapse of its appeasement policy toward Iran, even the scenario of an EMP attack. Israel would not.

The answer to that question is that it will be lucky if it does. 0bama’s economic train wreck is unfolding before our eyes. His national security catastrophe is yet to come.

At this point I miss Jimmy Carter and even LBJ.

Obama is far and away the dumbest. most simple person to occupy the office.

If it were not for affirmative action he’d not have completed Occidental in Eagle Rock, CA.

Obama is stupid.

Did I misread this?

The author states that he (she?) is an American citizen who voted for McCain.

Then the author states that he is an Israeli citizen, and, if I understand, he voted for Likud just months after voting in America.

I wonder what the liberal Jews who voted for Hussein think about their vote now? Do they really care about the future of Israel? Iran has said they will wipe out Israel and they seem on their way to acquiring the means to do so.

There is a saying in Israel, we survived the pharaoh, we’ll survive this. No one knows what the response will be from the Israeli government to the Iranian threat because we don’t have a government. Hopefully there will be one in the next few weeks. But there will be a response irrespective of American policy.

I get tired of seeing this bashing of American Jews because of the way they vote. They’ve been voting the same way for 70 years and it’s not going to change. Only a tiny percentage cast their ballot on what they think is good for Israel, so why keep harping on this? In their eyes both parties are the same on this issue. They vote for their own interests as citizens like everyone else.

Liberal US Jews would sell Ovens and cyanide pellets to Iran if they could.

The same way Israel has survived everything else: Israel has G-d on her side.

As the son of an Israeli, I have more respect for HAMAS than an most American Jews.

HAMAS is honest in their feelings for Israel.

No. The author lives in Israel. There are many Israelis who vote in the US elections and maintain a dual citizenship.

“How Will Israel Survive Obama’s Naivete On Iran?

It should be characterized as reaching out to his Iranian allies, not naivete.

IMHO

I think that identification with Israel among US Jews has dropped off considerably in the last 30 years or so. Too many seem to identify with liberalism as a philosophy/quasi religion instead. It is a strange situation that goyisher me doesn’t pretend to understand. I just see the phenomenon here in Florida all the time. If it hasn’t been studied, it really should be. A lib wrote “What’s wrong with Kansas?” about blue collar/rural whites voting Republican. Somebody should write “What’s wrong with Boca Raton?” about this Jewish liberal voting habit.

I agree. Oh, there are American Jews (especially those in the arts and literature) who will attend fundraisers and galas and other social events that are ostensibly for the benefit of Israel or some Israeli-related charity or interest, but they attend those functions for no other reason than to be seen. It’s all about visibility to them, not about any core principle vis-a-vis Israel.

American Jews have by and large voted for the leftist ticket from Day One. That is not going to change anytime soon.
