BS, what would be the cost of heath care in any country where every time you stubbed your toe you ran down and had an MRI???
NO! Defending an Incompitent Socialist Medical System that the Canadians themselves say “STINKS!” is Stupid and Arrogant! We who have been saved by Helicopters and Our Great American Doctors and Health care CAN SPEAK with Authority! Thank you very Much!:-P
Actually health education, public health measures (like sanitary sewers) and the way people live at home have more to do with that than what most think of as "healthcare".
That's why you need the helicopters, to get patients who need neurosurgeons to facilities that have them, and the necessary support equipment and staff.
You are correct, now everyone please step in the rubber bubble and you will always be safe from harm. Sac Off
A person who has acute trauma to the brain may think they ae fine

It’s quite possible she didn’t realize she hit her head during the tumble. If I’m understanding you correctly, you’re assuming she did.
I don’t know if she could have been saved had she been in the US.
But I do know that any country who has a 10 month waiting period for pregant women is no country I ever want to live in.
Women have had to leave Canada and come to the US to have their babies because the beds up there were all full.
That never happens here.
It’ a long way from Tremblant to Monteal, Probably 2+ hours buy ambulance

November 19, 2003 -- DAN Aykroyd is no fan of the bureaucratic bungling and cut-rate care of socialized medicine. "One place you don't want to get sick is Quebec," the Canadian actor advised us after a screening of Denys Arcand's 'The Barbarian Invasions.' "It's all socialized. Believe me, you don't want to go to a hospital there."
If you look at the demographic makeup of Canada, and then pull out the same subset from US demographics, you will see that your statement doesn't hold water.
What brings down the numbers in the USA isn't related to quality of health care, but that we have 40 million people, mostly 3rd worlders, in the country that are of foreign extraction (as in, they are not native born Americans). Many of the Mexicans have a 6th-grade education, if that, and pre-natal care etc. is not up to snuff.
Actually she didn't walk in and she did have a CT scan.
Before you blame socialism, which will only work in heaven and is not practiced there given the parable of the talents, study the statistics on deaths and medical problems caused by going into ANY hospital or doctors office. I always wash my hands after going there. :)
The CDC has wonderful info. Doesn’t matter how much money you have or how good your surgeon is—like the bacteria that saved the world in War of the Worlds...
The question remains, why did her husband (Liam Neeson) make the decision to have her moved from Quebec to New York?
Was it to hopefully receive superior care, or because she was already clinically dead?
I can appreciate either decision, certainly the one to receive superior care, and especially the desire not to officially die in a place like that godforsaken Quebec.
Already someone is saying the option to refuse medical treatment should not exist. We're not talking about an unconscious person here, so that's just a red herring.
And yes, it is a waste. All recreation accidents/deaths are a waste, since the people need not have taken those risks in the first place. One can imagine a "perfect" system, in which everyone takes advantage of every possible medical option, and every possible option, no matter how expensive or rarely used, is immediately available to anyone, anywhere, at any time. However, this does not not make the injured un-injured or the dead un-dead, in the real world.
Exactly, she may have thought she was fine and dismissed requiring additional treatment but the injuries were more severe than expected.
All is know is that two children no longer have a mom, a husband no longer has his wife and a mom has to bury her daughter....sad all the way around....
Yes, it is easy to say coulda, shoulda, woulda after the fact while sitting in front of computer
Sorry, TC, that doesn’t wash. Suppose she decided to admit herself. There would have been no head trauma neurosurgeon or life-flite helicopter available because of health-care rationing. It may not have directly killed her, but it certainly has killed many people who would have been saved under the U.S. health care system.
Yes, that's so, as far as we know.
