Some Catholics Disappointed in Obama

He garnered the majority of Catholic votes in the 2008 election, but a number of Catholic groups now say President Obama is showing a complete lack of regard for their beliefs. They count his decisions to lift restrictions on abortion and stem cell research among the most offensive. "As far as the Catholic church goes, there's no bigger priority for Catholics than human dignity and human life," said Cathy Ruse, senior fellow at the Family Research Council said. "And the Obama administration has just been an assault on those values again and again in just two months."

The only problem is I don’t have a Pope...

Oh, but you do!

The image that I have is of a very large hall, bereft of people, and entirely populated with mirrors.

Capitalizing the word catholic changes it dramatically...

Oh absolutely! It transmutes from a stubborn typo to the properly spelled term.

Did you hear about the hate crime down at the Unitarian Univeralist Church?

Someone left a burning question mark in the lawn...

***The only problem is I don’t have a Pope***

Have you looked in the mirror?

***nor do I go to a mall church.***

A concrete block building perhaps?

***The Bride of Christ is not little***

No, she is 1-1/2 billion people and growing

***but you are purposely trying to obscure the discussion and showing your ignorance or obtuseness in the effort***

I guess that you know my purposes better than I do.

***Good night.***

May God bless you as well.

I am not personally attacking you - I don’t even know your name. I am disagreeing with your belief that the Catholic church was founded by Christ and is the only true Church. A lot of you will be surprised to find out the Truth. I pray you will someday.

About my "belief that the Catholic Church . . . is the only true Church?"

When did I say that?

What do you suppose was the point which we arrived at the truth?

Mall church? Personal Pope? Mimeograph? Hallway god? The identification of the Catholic Church (with proper capitals)?

*** I am disagreeing with your belief that the Catholic church was founded by Christ and is the only true Church. ***

It is entirely Biblical, it is proven by Church history and is entirely bourne out by pre-Reformation religious writings. Upon what is your disagreement based?

Where was the Catholic Church founded by Christ - He founded His Church on Peter’s confession of Him as Lord, not on Peter the man.(Its that whole capital letter thing again. Gets reslly inconvenient for you guys I know) God bless Peter, I love him because I identify with him so often, but as something to build a church on? I think not. In the next verse Christ equates Peter to Satan-not the foundation of a Church.

Of course your church history would bear out that they thought they were the only church. All other Christian pre reformation writings were mercilessly routed out and destroyed by the Catholic church, including the Heugonots, Waldensens, Albiganians, etc. Most of those paid with their life for daring to contradict church history.
On a personal note, I am completely redeemed and safe in the salvation of Christ, all without setting foot in a Catholic church and finding quite a bit of catholic doctrine highly objectionable. As I am a member of the universal church without being a member of the Catholic Church, then I guess the Catholic church is not the only True Church.

Sad, really.

I thought that Mom had some promise and showed a little more thought about the realities of Christianity than the usual dulliform evangelical/fundamentalist yokel. I’d be crushed if I were wrong.

Well, you got me on that.

It's terribly inconvenient to have to disprove that garbage over and over again.

The Gospels and Acts say different.

***In the next verse Christ equates Peter to Satan-not the foundation of a Church.***

I’d reread that if I were you. Christ is chastizing Peter, not equating him to satan.

***Of course your church history would bear out that they thought they were the only church. Not church history, dear Mom. Beliefs. Have you looked into the beliefs of the three groups that you have named? Do so and then dare to say that any of them were legitimate Christians.

***On a personal note, I am completely redeemed and safe in the salvation of Christ, all without setting foot in a Catholic church and finding quite a bit of catholic doctrine highly objectionable.***

Since you reject the Church of Christ, how do you know such things?

***As I am a member of the universal church without being a member of the Catholic Church, then I guess the Catholic church is not the only True Church.***

Unlike those outside the Church, I do not play guessing games with my salvation. Do you have a basis for your guessing, such as some sort of indication that you are a member of the universal church?

I really am done now. I hope you are having a good yuck with each other over this dulliform/evangelical/fundamentalist yokel. You have no idea who I really am or what I do or do not know. I am washed by the Blood of Christ and dwell in Him. I am secure in my salvation.

Good night. Run along and play elsewhere, and good luck peddling your schtick somewhere else.

I am secure in my salvation.

So you've been told. "Sin boldly," and all that rot.

Did you even read the post? I said: I thought that Mom had some promise and showed a little more thought about the realities of Christianity than the usual dulliform evangelical/fundamentalist yokel.

After your posting, it really does appear that I was wrong.

***You have no idea who I really am or what I do or do not know.***

All I know is what you post.

***I am washed by the Blood of Christ and dwell in Him. I am secure in my salvation.***

You really have given no indication of it other than claiming it.

***Good night. Run along and play elsewhere, and good luck peddling your schtick somewhere else.***

Not sure what schtick you are referring to. Can you elucidate?

Up to 55% of Catholics—not all Catholics. I know Catholics who were clear about Obama’s attitudes and what he might do as President—they did not vote for him.

The list of fools for 2008:
Jewish people who voted for Obama despite his anti-Jewish associates.
Catholics who voted for Obama despite his extreme support of and reverence for abortion.
Business executives who voted for Obama despite his plans to raise their taxes and promote anti-business hostility throughout America.
Young people who voted for Obama despite his plans to spend their futures into the ground and tax them to death for it.
Free citizens who voted for Obama despite his disdain for such individual rights as the right to self-defense.
Journalists who voted for Obama (zealously) despite his desire to suppress some points of view in the media.
The list is long.
