RIMROCK, Ariz. -- A man, who sheriff's deputies say is in the country illegally, was arrested while helping a friend deliver mail in a Northern Arizona town Thursday.
Yavapai County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested 35-year-old Sigifredo Parra-Reyes as he helped a friend deliver mail at about 1 p.m.
YCSO Sgt. Karl Bentz said in a Friday news release that the deputy was on patrol in the area of Kimberley Way and Cornville Road in Rimrock when he saw a 2001 silver Nissan being operated in a suspicious manner.
As the vehicle passed him, the deputy saw a "U.S. Mail" magnet attached to the rear of the vehicle.
Bentz said the deputy initiated a traffic stop and contacted the driver, later identified as Parra-Reyes.
Parra-Reyes allegedly gave the deputy a false name.
He said the deputy, who is Immigration and Customs 287G certified, pursued the identification inconsistencies and the immigration status with Parra-Reyes, according to Bentz.
The deputy reportedly learned that Parra-Reyes was in this country illegally from Mexico.
Parra-Reyes was arrested for false information to a law enforcement officer and taking the identity of another.
The passenger and owner of the car was identified as 35-year-old Sybil Maria Rogers, of Rimrock, Bentz said.
Rogers, who was doing contract postal delivery, reportedly told the deputy that she was ill and had been letting her boyfriend, Parra-Reyes drive while she delivered the mail.
Bentz said the woman was released at the scene with no charges.
Parra-Reyes was booked into the Camp Verde Jail.
A records check on Parra-Reyes indicated he had been deported twice before with one of those dates being in 2002 after being convicted of drug trafficking charges, according to Bentz.
Caught another Democrat voter.
This location is within 4 miles of John McCain’s “Sedona home”
At least he was working.
Taking work from Americans who pay taxes. Deport them all.
I agree.
So, the incompetent AP screwed up the headline and got it wrong?
“Immigrant” should be “Illegal Alien”?
So these contracted mail deliverers are not required to wear a uniform and can drive their own vehicles. Idiots. At a minimum the discipline of wearing a uniform should have been a requirement. This woman is an idiot. I am glad her boyfriend is back home where he belongs. Scary stuff. Thinking about ID theft. The local government should also be held out to dry for this as well. Glad this man was a certified customs and border officer. :-). Mama likes that!!! LOL.
Illegal immigrant arrested in N. Arizona while delivering U.S. mail
First thing I thought of was Jerry delivering Newman’s mail, walking down the street, whistling, and handing mail to homeless people.
If you suspect something is wrong, I suggest you contact the postal inspection service. They are very diligent about ridding the postal service of the tiny minority of dishonest workers.
Oops, my bad. This wasn’t the incompetent AP, it was either the incompetent E.W. Scripps Co or (more likely) the incompetent ABC affiliate.
Neither rain nor snow...but, apparently, ICE can delay him from his appointed rounds.
Doesn’t matter. There ain’t nobody in Rimrock that can read anyways.
I once went to the dock of a major post office. I was checking on direct mail work. This was a main postal facility that did a lot of direct mail. There were postal workers of the UNITED STATES Postal Service back there who could not speak English. Only Spanish.
The man is an illegal alien.
The term “immigrant” is used incorrectly throughout the land. “Immigrant” denotes a foreign national in this country legally - usually with a green card. This country welcomed millions of “immigrants” over the centuries and they played a significant role in making the US the country what it is.
By tagging illegals with the term “immigrant” you do a great disservice to the legals of today and before.
