Not if the 1961 birth announcements in the newspapers are real. Thats the key and should be easily verifable in the absence of the certificate. Unless you think that the conspiracy started in 1961.

parents whom wanted to spare their embarrassment with their unmarried pregnant daughter by identifying her as married to the father of the child, for example

I cannot recall if anyone ever checked that birth announcement address with residence records on the Dunhams ... seems to me there was another anomoly there but the owner of that home in 1961 died... just last summer.. unfortunately
