Has he given a photo with the current headlines on it yet? Until then I’ll believe he’s channeling through a temporary. Or he left an archive of messages in the event of his death.

(YAWN) Bin Laden is dead. He’s been dead for quite a while.

Or maybe he just never changes clothes and the old clothes never wear out. Osama is always in a orange gown with orange hoodie and Fidel is always in a red white and blue jogging suit. Seems these two guy have the same tailor and he always makes them the exact same outfit over and over for public appearances.

"He is not dead."

How would we know he was alive? The man can't seem to get video together. He hasn't been seen by any non-al-Qaeda person in 8 years. His sons (last known to be in Afghanistan---are THEY alive?) would likely be able to fool the voice analysts.

Translation of Funeral Article in Egyptian Paper: al-Wafd, Wednesday, December 26, 2001 Vol 15 No 4633

News of Bin Laden's Death and Funeral 10 days ago

Islamabad -

A prominent official in the Afghan Taliban movement announced yesterday the death of Osama bin Laden, the chief of al-Qa'da organization, stating that binLaden suffered serious complications in the lungs and died a natural and quiet death. The official, who asked to remain anonymous, stated to The Observer of Pakistan that he had himself attended the funeral of bin Laden and saw his face prior to burial in Tora Bora 10 days ago. He mentioned that 30 of al-Qa'da fighters attended the burial as well as members of his family and some friends from the Taliban. In the farewell ceremony to his final rest guns were fired in the air. The official stated that it is difficult to pinpoint the burial location of bin Laden because according to the Wahhabi tradition no mark is left by the grave. He stressed that it is unlikely that the American forces would ever uncover any traces of bin Laden.

Yup...until Tora-Bora he was a media hog....then suddenly incurably reclusive. Al-Qaeda has a very strong interest in allowing people to think he is alive, and would be willing to spend serious dough to fabricate tapes.

Why does it always take so long for these tapes to get released? Maybe they get sent to Nashville for doctoring and then back to Pakistan for release..

It's likely he's dead. He hasn't put out decent quality videos since 2002 like he did before and shortly after 9/11.

It's possible one of the Predator drones or a bunker buster got him but the U.S. Government won't confirm or deny his death in order to avoid making him a martyr to other would-be terrorists. He was also suffering from kidney failure according to some reports which would be an embarrasing way to go for terrorists bent on martyring themselves

It'll be one of those secrets that'll be classified forever.

Bin Laden in New Audio Message: Victory in Iraq Will Allow Us to Infiltrate Jordan, Enter West Bank, and Liberate Al-Aqsa

Victory in Iraq? The rest of Al Qaida has been debating about why they lost in Iraq for more than a year. Either Bin Laden is dead or his “audio message” was addressed to Harry Reid.

Bin Laden is dead and buried and no amount of wishing will bring him back.

If Al-Aqsa needs to be “liberated,” why can’t Jews go there? Remember the fuss when Ariel Sharon went up on the Temple Mount, even though he didn’t enter any mosques?

Regarding the tape, I stand by what I’ve said before:

If it’s new, it isn’t Bin Laden.
It it’s Bin Laden, it isn’t new.

Interesting thought. I never hear that mentioned as a possible explanation.

With the apocalyptic nature of this conflict, I see that as a possibility.

“So how long ‘till Obama says he’s going to start reaching out to moderate Al Qaedans?”

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he’s clandestinely cut deals with them to lay off hitting us until after his first term. Is it possible his actions vis-a-vis GITMO, the WOT, etc. reflect his part in it? Just a theory, but I think a plausible one. I don’t trust that POS at all.

Well, then someone did a masterful job of impersonating bin Laden when he released that video in the runup to the ‘04 presidential election. I think he may be dead, too, but the death would’ve happened more recently.

While it's very likely he's dead, your other points indicate why the lack of video isn't an indication of that. He wouldn't want to be shown on video in poor health, even if alive.

Exactly, and the video had the intended effect...getting GWB into office to prolong the war and sap us more. :-( As bin Laden had pointed out, a small investment on their part sucks a lot of money out of us. Now we're paying the price. :-(
