S.C. lawmakers will bypass him, accept disputed money.

BY JOHN O'CONNOR

Gov. Mark Sanford said Wednesday that using federal money to balance the state budget come July could “destabilize” the S.C. economy over time.

The governor said he will not accept $700 million in federal aid for state budgets unless South Carolina can use the money to pay off retirement, health care costs and other debts — making him the nations’ first governor to specifically reject portions of the federal aid.

I wonder if he or any other governor will challenge the fed’s usurping his authority with the go-around written into the spendigulous bill?

His critics, including Democratic Majority Whip Rep. JimClyburn, said the intent of the $787 billion stimulus package was to create or sustain jobs.

lie, lie, lie.

I live in the district of House Speaker Bobby Harrell. Harrell calls himself a Republican. He’s a RINO who has no problem accepting stolen money.
E-mail Harrell at bobbyharrell@bobbyharrell.com and let him know how you feel.

Does this mean that they have to permanently change their welfare laws and expand their rolls exponentially if they accept the money??

If that’s the case, then Sanford should sue the federal government for interfering with state affairs.

Nobody has challenged the constitutionality of the act. Why not? Wouldn’t that be the best way to stop that monstrosity.

Look at what’s happening in CA (among other lunacies). LIBs don’t like the results of an election, so they challenge it in court.

What do Conservatives do? Moan about this or that portion of 1,800+ pages of pure garbage. I’m not a lawyer or I’d be doing this pro bono. Surely there must be ONE Conservative lawyer out there!

I read about this in a different article. Good on him. In addition to sticking to principles, he’s the ONLY Republican who promised to limit his terms in the US house and actually followed through. Of course, Obama’s buddies worded the bill to state government can just go around him and grab the funds for those perpetual programs he’s trying to avoid saddling his state with. Shame.

BUT...

If people like him don’t stand up first, the follower types have nobody to imitate.

If half of our public representatives were of the quality of Stanford our country would be building cities on Mars and the whole country would be living in McMansions (if that´s what we wanted).

What are the odds of a Sanford/Palin team? He’s way more her political type than McInsane. Or Sanford/Jindal, maybe?

"I wonder if he or any other governor will challenge the fed’s usurping his authority with the go-around written into the spendigulous bill?"

They have the perfect opening: Barack Hussein Obama wrote a signing statement (He reamed President Bush for writing one, acting as though HE would never do that) to cover his derrier after being warned by the Justice Department that parts of the bill raise constitutional concerns.

He will also likely say" No Thank You" to ACORN.

How? State criminal investigations will begin as soon as the upgraded drug runners open offices in SC.
