Federal authorities say they've tracked down the head of a murderous Mexican kidnapping ring who went into hiding in the Rosebank section of Staten Island.
Liberio Andrew Gonzalez, 48 -- the leader of "The Liborio," a gang authorities say is responsible for about 20 murders and numerous kidnappings in three Mexican states -- was picked up by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers on Staten Island last week.
It turned out he was living in a small, attic apartment on Bell Street, paying $400 a month in rent as he worked on the Staten Island waterfront, cleaning boats.
ICE officers escorted him out of the country and turned him over Saturday to Mexican Federal Police officials at the Mexico City International Airport, said ICE spokesman Lou Martinez.
Federal authorities say he committed no known crimes while living in the United States.
Starting in 1999, Gonzalez and his crew would target farmers, entrepreneurs and children in the states of Guerrero, Puebla and Morelos, according to Mexican authorities. They'd stake out their victims in advance, choosing targets with enough money to pay their ransom demands -- usually between 4 and 6 million pesos, which amounts to roughly $250,000 to $400,000.

This is outrageous! A “small, attic apartment on Bell Street, paying $400 a month in rent”? Sounds way too high of a price.
It’s time for him to come out of the shadows and claim his portion of the Skimallus bill. Plus he gets a voter ID card automatically registered as Democrat and hou$ing a$$i$tance
with food stamps. Isn’t America dandy!
i guess “”The Liborio” might be looking for a name change soon.
jeeez.
F’ing losers.
Ping!
Realllly, I was thinking a good deal.
Guess i don’t know Bell street.
Is he back home to Bell Street yet?
Any idea where the body may be hiding?
Adios, Liberio!
Housing, and all other expenses, are astronomical near the Big Sh*tty.
$400 per month won’t buy one rights to a warm grate on a sidewalk on Manhattan Island.
