I don’t recall whether Bubba singled out Rush early on. But he may have, because the GOP was the majority two years in.
No, they used different tactics. For WJC, it was all about him. For Obama, I think, it’s all about destroying the US to usher in communism. The communist playbook is to destroy capitalists’ leaders, of whom Rush is one among many. The strategy is to put a name and face to the enemy.
The clintons used that crooked DA in Florida to try to nail Rush on a drug charge. And it darned near worked. The press weighed in with an enormous propaganda campaign. At the time, even a lot of Freepers were fooled, and were calling Rush a druggie.
It was ironic, of course, since clinton was a big-time drug smuggler and coke user, and Rush had only gotten addicted to a prescription pain killer because of unbearable back pain. Nothing illegal was remotely proved, but the ress kept it on the boil for months.
I guess the Dixie Mafia is subtler than the Chicago Mafia. They kill just as many people and scatter the bodies around, but they pretend it’s Arkancide.
