"Going Galt": America's Wealth Producers vs. Wealth Redistributors

Enough. In a word, that is the message of disgusted taxpayers fed up with the confiscatory policies of both parties in Washington. George Bush pre-socialized the economy with billion-dollar bailouts of the financial and auto industries. Barack Obama is pouring billions more down those sinkholes. It isn't just the camel's back that's broken. His neck and four legs have all snapped, too.

Enough. Last Friday, thousands of Americans turned out to protest reckless government spending in the pork-laden stimulus package, the earmark-clogged budget bill, the massive mortgage-entitlement program and taxpayer-funded corporate rescues. Contrary to false left-wing blog smears that the hastily planned impromptu events were "Astro-turfed," the crowds were packed with first-time grassroots activists. They were people with families and day jobs whose usual definition of "community organizing" involves neighborhood yard sales or their kids' soccer matches. They were members of the silent majority who decided to be silent no more.

Enough. These "Tea Party" protests spanned the sunny Santa Monica pier to the icy streets of Chicago and Cleveland to rain-drenched Atlanta, overflowing the grounds of the St. Louis Gateway Arch, with massive turnouts in Greenville, S.C., and crowds of several hundred each in New York City and Washington, D.C., and all points in between.

Well, reducing one's income (aka "Going Galt") is one possible response. Another - for those who have employees - is to push them harder so that you get the same work done with less payroll. (Giving full credit, of course, to government policy).

This is just as effective as "going Galt" and doesn't involve impoverishing oneself. As the employee headcount goes down, it swells the unemployment numbers, which also works against the system.

In the not-so-long run the government will, as a response, give employees increased rights to sue their employers for real-or-imagined wrongs. These risks can be mitigated, however.

...funny thing. “Going Galt” is for those of us who can really stand to do it—not the fans of the fictitious character. And in reality without drugs, the out-of-touch dreamers of today are “America’s Wealth” Distributors and “Wealth Redistributors.”

As for Obama, he has the same kinds of boss constituents that other presidents have had for at least nearly 40 years. And as for the “MSM,” that’s sponsored with enormous sums of money by the people of the liberal left—not the government or politicians.

I’m sure there are a certain number in Washington who don’t think we’ll do it. They’re wrong. The reason, the ONLY reason this country has succeeded the way it has is because of the freedom loving independent people. We’re all a lot more fond of freedom then we are of “stuff”.

You guys ought to study The Art of Demotivation. Seriously.

It shatters the "myth of the noble employee". It's not only good practical advice, it's funny as all get-out.

Thanks! I'll read some reviews about The Art of Demotivation and maybe get a copy. I worked a lot of office admin. and other temp. contracts through the '90s and saw too many administrators and other employees sink much further into social obsessions and away from getting work done. Maybe we do need an "economic collapse." ;-)

The Playboy report that this was a staged event has been debunked and proven FALSE, and Playboy has removed the article from it’s website.

She (Rand) saw this coming decades ago, and actually wrote about it more than 50 years ago.

It is uncanny.
