The anti-stimulus demonstrations that began about two weeks ago moved Friday to more than 35 cities, including Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
They have been dubbed the "Nationwide Tea Parties," after CNBC commentator Rick Santelli's suggestion in a recent spirited diatribe.
They are enthusiastic affairs, but relatively modest so far. The largest one, in St. Louis, may have attracted 1,000 protesters. Most drew no more than 200 to 300.
It remains to be seen if the movement will gather more steam.

We had a good starting turnout at the first round of tea parties. Let's keep this movement growing.
When is the next one in the Cleveland/Akron area?I`ll be there.
Pay no attention to the numbers. 116 in Boston Harbor started this country.
Some can attend, but many of us are there in spirit!
I gladly pay my taxes for legitmate government functions. The additional ‘functions’ Obama proposes, I will not pay!
There in Spirit don’t cut it . We need a national march , a million man march . This it the time to do it before it gets too late to ever get our country back.We need to use the methods of the left , in their faces , massive gatherings, news making events. We lost this government because conservatives are never the ones to take to the streets. We sit online and talk about it . I say the time is past where we can JUST sit and talk. We are in SERIOUS trouble here, the government is being run by ultra leftist who will dive us quickly to become a 3rd world Socialist toilet.
Lets have a TEA PARTY on ELECTION DAY 2010!!
Had to miss the first D/FW Tea Party. I’d like to attend the next one.
Got an email from the organizer of the one in Kansas City this weekend. Says they are already planning round 2 (warmer weather, no snow storms this time round :-)
Sorry, I have a business to operate!
FYI:
68% of the country WANT a 3rd world Socialist toilet!
Protest Marching isn’t the only form of protest you can engage! While the dumbmasses are drolling at the prospect of getting their fair share of your wealth, you should be doing everything in your power to ‘starve the beast’!
We always ‘talk’ about cause and effects of fiscal and monetary policy on line, it’s time to show the progressives what their policies will do. They cannot succeed as long as we grant them the fringes. It’s time to pull the ‘wealth’ rug out from under them.
“Anyone may arrange his affairs so that his taxes shall be as low as possible; he is not
bound to choose that pattern which best pays the treasury. There is not even a patriotic
duty to increase one’s taxes. Over and over again the Courts have said that there is
nothing sinister in
so arranging affairs as to keep taxes as low as possible. Everyone does it,
rich and poor alike and all do right, for nobody owes any public duty to pay
more than the law demands.”
(US Appeals Court Justice the Honourable Learned Hand)
Time to rearrange your affairs. The creative juices start to flow at the many ways!
“Sorry, I have a business to operate!”
you won’t have a friggin business if Obama gets his way.
Some can attend, but many of us are there in spirit!
Um. The Bostonians did not start the Revolution. The British did. They marched on Concord and Lexington.
It will take more organization than street protest to achieve a revolution. It will take planning and a philosophy for its purpose. The street tea parties are simply a measure of disorganized anger. They won't go far.
I agree, the conservative excuse has ALWAYS been we’re out working while the left has time to protest. Well, we better move and move fast . I’ve seen a few organizations on line trying to organize protest but none have strong leadership so far . We need Talk Radio to help us . I don’t know why they haven’t so far . They are close to being obsolete themselves, they better take up the banner soon .
I fear Conservatives are just not the take to the street types, but we just may have to. I attended the NYC Tea Party and there were easily 300 people there. And most heard about it at the Last Minute. The organizers, if you can call them that, were 20 somethings!!
200 in 20 degree weather and snow in KC doesn’t seem like a bad turnout to me.
They need to start organizing larger “tea parties in each regional area and then work on one for each coast-one in DC ad the other in LA.
That is Step 2. The first step is being loudly heard.
Weather was awful,
plus, the people you wanted there were at the gun show in OP!
NYC Tea Party? I.ve been keeping an eye out for such an event and never heard a thing about it ,I live in notrh NJ . Not even a mention in the local news..See what I mean , we need a HUGE turnout or else it will work against us. We’ll be seen a a few wackoos making a lame attempt at protesting. Again , talk radio can help get national attention.
I saw something about another NYC Tea Party on Friday, March 13, 10 a.m. meet at the Bull at Bowling Green in Wall Street area. They plan to march and stop in front of AIG. If I locate info, will post.
