Authorities believe a bullet that slammed into the Lawrence city planner’s desk last weekend may be related the recent layoffs of 11 city employees and the firing of two others.

So...it wasn't 'citizens' as suspects, but disgruntled former employees who might be rather pissed off that their sweet life has been curtailed?

I suppose this will be the stimulus to deal with any politicians on the edge of ammunition registration...

In Memphis TN in the summer of 1981 or 1982 the local firefighter's union went on strike. During that summer numerous fires "mysteriously" appeared frequently throughout the city.

The Governor called out the National Guard, who patroled the city and stood at street corners with loaded M16's.

Yep, government employees are capable of a lot of "mischief".
