Fascinating argument from a supporter of government care. Waste and fraud are bad so all private aid should be discouraged. Waste and fraud are what government does best, I guess, so put it in their hands. And, of course, if only governments had more money to throw at the problem everything would be just great! Unbelievable.

The typical advocate of government controlled medical treatment wants violent suppression of any private medical treatment opportunity.
They are ghouls.

Government rationing of health care might be the most efficient way for an oppressive government to rid itself of undesirables. If a person can only live six months without a medical treatment, it could take much longer to fill out the paper work

A new Oxfam report on health care reveals many private schemes perform poorly - in China, for example, one third of drugs dispensed by private vendors are counterfeit - but they continue to be backed by international donors. Now, China receives no international medical aid to my knowledge, so this sentence is completely irrelevant to the stated purpose of the article.

Bunch of nonsense.
Notice that part about China and that one third of the drugs are counterfeit?
The problem is counterfeit drugs, not the private sector. I suspect the public hospitals also give out the counterfeit drugs.
Similarly, most people in the third world go to pharmacies for medicine, not doctors...you get medicine right away, wherease if you have to go to public clinics you wait for several hours before you get treated...
If the shops weren’t available, the people would just take herbs.
