It’s a small comfort that someone in the federal government decided to create a website to provide information about where all that stimulus aka recovery money will go. The site Recovery.gov loads quickly and has a user-friendly navigation bar. The site is attractively designed. And that’s the sum of the good stuff. Because the content on the site is sorely lacking in terms of explaining exactly how much funding is going where. What does the site tell us about where our taxpayer money will go?

I strongly suspect this Site will be more of a subterfuge, designed to give some level of comfort while not really disclosing anything of substance. Our Gov’t does not want us to know what they are doing or how badly they have (or are) screwed up.

I trust Obama’s pronouncements on transparency as much as everything else I've seen in the last month. (Has it been ONLY one month? Seems like an eternity!)

The “transparency” Obama promised is looking to have the quality of a window frame and an image of an interior, painted onto an outside wall.

I was browsing through it earlier. I didn’t like what I saw. The site claims to be the main oversight for this spending bill, as per the FAQ. Surfers are supposed to peruse through the allocations and complain. These complaints are then ‘reviewed’. Very disturbing.

These 'complainers' are then 'reviewed'.
