A dwindling number of student activists remained barricaded inside a New York University cafeteria early Friday morning after dozens of supporters scuffled with police outside the building overnight and one person was arrested on a summons.
School officials and the police could not immediately confirm whether the person arrested was a student, either from NYU or another college campus. Police said the person was issued a summons for disorderly conduct.

“The protesters also have made the Palestinian-Israeli conflict part of their cause, demanding the university donate “excess supplies and materials” to help rebuild a university damaged in December by Israeli air raids. They also want NYU to provide annual scholarships to Palestinian students, beginning in the 2009-10 school year.”
I wonder how many of them are foreigners on student visas?
The students want NYU to release information on its budget and endowment, including staff salaries and financial aid. The students also want the university to release its investment strategy and the names of the people and firms involved in it.
"We have given them countless opportunities to look us in the face and talk about the way our school is run," Stainkamp said. "They refuse to do this, except on their terms."

But this is what you can expect when private universities employ Marxist radicals as ‘professors.’
If my kid went there (over my dead body) and I was shelling out $50K, I’d demand a refund.
Exactly! NYU is a private school. It is under no obligation to reveal details of its fianances to its students (customers).
If students do not like this they should transfer to a school that is more open on financial matters or refuse to donate to their alma mater, after they graduate.
Also, if the marxist students are so concerned about the bomb throwers in Gaza, why don’t THEY pay for their supplies and pay their tuition?

my favorite part is that they call themselves “Take Back NYU”, It wasn’t yours to begin with. I work across the street from an NYU building and Police are station there. Another part which amuses me is that they hang a sign saying “This is what DEMOCRACY looks like”, no kiddies I am sorry what you are attempting to do is what is called a “coup d’etat.” Looks like Mommy and Daddy’s money is going to waste.
My son and most of the students there hate these idiots and want them arrested.
