THE HAGUE, Netherlands - Critics say the freedom to criticize Islam in Europe has been put in jeopardy after Dutch politician Geert Wilders was banned last week from entering Britain because of his attacks on Islam.

But while the controversial politician may have failed to enter the United Kingdom, the Dutch public has rallied around Wilders, and support for his party has exploded.

Hopefully the Dutch people have time to pull their heads out before it’s too late.

They didn’t in WWII and other people had to go in and save their sorry @$$es from starvation.

I hope that the people of that once beautiful country will grow a set of nads. After they do, they should tell us how it was done.

Don't quite get your reference ~ Nederland was simply overrun by the Deutschlanders in WWII and that was the end of that story.

What they should have done after WWII was de-nazify the place a tad more.

No doubt they still need some of that, which is why they'll probably start with the excission of the Islamofascists.

I’m hoping the Europeans will realize what’s happening and expel the savage barbarians.

They invited them in ... held massive pro-Nazi rallies ... well in advance of being ‘overrun’.

No doubt they "did stuff" but not everybody.

Nederland was dealt with as a victim nation after the war.

I know a fairly large number of Dutch people who served in WWII in the American and British airforces, or onboard American and British ships. One guy told me the Germans were rolling into his town so he went out past the dykes in a small boat, and when they caught sight of it and called him back, he just kept swimming until he encountered an English rowboat which picked him up.

There was an attempt to maintain neutrality ~ which failed miserably.

“...they’ll probably start with the excission of the Islamofascists.”

Wishful thinking. If Holland would start doing that, the EU will have to follow suit, and that is not going to happen.

You're thinking "the old politics" where the Social Democrats and the Socialists pass parliamentary majorities back and forth.

I doubt having Islamofascists inside Nederland is on Wilders' party's agenda.

A little recession here and there, nasty words from Islamofascist rabble rousers, and next thing you know the Dutch'll be tossing these guys off the dykes into the sea (out there just South of Rotterdam I'd guess ~ it's deeper, has a current, high enough to make an impression on the guy taking the dive).

What should they have done different?

Will the EU have a hissy fit like they did when Austria elected the "wrong" people?

The two greatest crimes in Europe are Euro-skepticism and Islamo-skepticism. The second is more dangerous to those who express it.

Not declared nuetrality at the onset. Turned on their fellow citizens embracing Nazism, turned on collaborators (before and during the war, not just afterward), not turned over their Jews, gypsies, etc to the Nazis so readily.

They may have still been ‘overrun’ but they invited a lot of it upon themselves ... as they are repeating today.

There are hopeful signs that maybe they are starting to abandon their ‘go-along-to-get-along” mentality. I hasn’t served them well.
